The media likes focusing on these things, and its especially true with facebook trending. The way I see it is simple. The police need a new way to handle these situations. I just think to myself 'why not shoot at non vitals?' I get lethal force when its called for.. I am not a white apologist. White people don't get what blacks go through in terms of 'fairness'. It seems this has been largely looked over in favor of this group notion that blacks just use this as a excuse. I've never once in my life had a run in with a police officer who was 'suspicious' of my behavior.

Didn't Chris Rock make this thing recently where he was pulled over like three times for no good reason?

Remember Kelly Thomas? I think the police in general are just getting more media attention. I think tons of this shit has just been happening for ages, and just not getting the media coverage.

the problem with that is that is the harder target. If you pull a gun the idea is that it is for lethal force. You never point a gun at anything you do not intend to kill.

It's also very dangerous.
The only real "non vital" areas are arms and legs, and even there you can blast a major artery. These are small targets that are usually moving a lot while someone is running. That's a hard shot to make, and you run the risk of a stray shot hurting someone innocent.

Cops are trained not to perform any first aid on suspects either, as they may have hidden weapons on them. They're trained to secure the area FIRST, then allow EMTs to help the suspect.

It's a system designed to save the lives of police and emergency medical responders. It also means there can be 15 minutes or more between a deadly injury and medical treatment.

It's a very touchy subject all around.
Where do you draw the line? Whose life is worth more?

The best solution would be something like the Taser, but more reliable and less lethal. Tasers are a joke as they are. They misfire, have short range and low accuracy, the barbs don't always hook into clothing, and when they do, they don't always deliver an effective shock to down the suspect.

They need like hand cannons that shoot expanding foam or some thing. Net launchers. I dunno.

i'm not a gun guy. i don't care for them myself. i will probably never own one. but it helps if you at least know the rules of gun use and ownership as well as having fired one before.

Cops shouldn't have tasers that are shaped like guns, because obviously they can't always tell the difference...

Guessing you're white, eh?

I mean, sure, some people make it "up out the hood" but they're the exceptions, the outliers. When you're born into an impoverished area with gutted public schools and a racist ass police force, it's kinda hard to be one of the lucky ones no matter how hard you work.

Hell, I was born white in an area with decent public schools and I had to work my ass off to get where I am. I know damn well kids born in worse areas with worse schools would have had to work even harder, without being taught how to. Sure, you can blame the parents, but many of them grew up in poverty too. It's what they know.

It's really easy to say anyone can work their ass off and make it when you were born into a situation that allows it. Some people aren't. Never mind the fact that the actual value of wages are down, and the cost of everything is up. I literally could not afford to live on some of the salaries I had in the past with todays cost of living.

Of everything this is the part I find the most perplexing. Why does the richest country in the world find it's citizens having to work two jobs just to pay day to day bills?

If anyone here believes this is in any way a route cause of the racial problems in the US at the moment then the good news is it's solvable with nothing more than a living wage minimum wage rise. Works everywhere else, why not America? Too proud to soak up a drop of common sense socialism?

Same here. Not a gun guy at all. I don't mind people owning them either. Funny story, i just got back from lunch at a sushi place, and this toolbag and his g/f come riding in on motorcycles. The girl doesn't even know how to park the thing on the crib so the guy has to park her bike. The he walks in with a leather vest on full of patches, and has some old non fitting 3xl tshirt under it. He also has a pistol on his hip. Then he tries to play the "I didn't see the sign" card about having the firearm in the restaurant. Who needs a gun when they are going out for sushi?

Douchebagy or not, it's his right. Just as it's the right of the business owner to not serve him.
It's not a matter of "Need". If we go down that path, we'll all wear burlap sacks, ride horses, and eat 3 meals of unflavored nutrient paste and water.

I hope the guy was at least polite and left without incident when asked.

Minimum wage raises only work if the cost of living doesn't rise with it. Which always happens. Companies always pass on the added costs to the consumer somehow.

The thing is, cost of living is constantly rising. If wages never rise, we all get fucked, which is pretty much what's been happening the last few decades. Production is up, CEO wages / profits are up, yet worker wages are flat or declining when adjusted for inflation.

Yes, costs get passed on. However, there are costs of a lot of things that aren't really affected by our minimum wage. Also, people on minimum wage rarely save anything, the money goes right back into the economy anyway.

I realize its his right. As far as i could see everything went okay. The owner told him to put it away and i think he put it in a bag and they put it behind the registers or something

Wait until minimum wage for many manual labor jobs becomes high enough that robotics start looking cheaper and attractive. Imagine how many unskilled laborers are going to be forced out of the middle class and into poverty.

That McDonald's franchise owner may look at his staff asking for $15 an hour and decide that a $25,000 burger-flipping robot will be cheaper in the long run.

We're in for a rough ride soon.

Pay the cooks $10/hr, get rid of all the fumbling fucking retards that I have to wait to talk to to get service from McDonalds and replace them with a touch screen. i'm all about it. I fucking hate having to deal with a litter of teenagers when I'm ordering food. It's not only that I have to be aware of how awful the food I'm ordering is (I mean really, it doesn't need to exist) but I have to think about how much I distrust absolutely everyone preparing it.

He should. Needs to grow an ass too.

I'm curious. I mean Bailey Jay is all well proportioned... Like I don't know.

Would I if the secret wasn't known? Probably.

Now that I know the secret... Would I mash on them titties? I mean, I may, but if my forearm brushed across her penis, I may get weird emotions.

I really do believe the media does a lot of damage to the image of certain groups that try to challenge the power of the people in charge of the country.
There was plenty of peaceful protesting way before any of the rioting started but did any of that part get showed? Did they show the people that were cleaning up the whole mess the rioters left behind?
The rioters did them a favor and gave them exactly what the media wants, which is to shift focus away from the real issues.

Honestly there are so many issues I don't even know where to begin aside from making a short list of them. I see media manipulation, race issues, police prejudice, police militarization, income inequality, dehumanizing of non whites, and a prison system that is broken.

I read posts like this and I am reminded that there are many people who have never been pushed down the wrong path. There are people who have never felt backed into a corner.

It's good, I guess. I mean, at least some people have it good.

Please. Continue to tell me about who I am, what I've experienced and how that relates to this discussion that I likely agree with you on for the most part. Or would you rather just beat up strawmen all day?

See the problem is, no, I don't think things are bad now. I think a lot of people who drive average cars to average jobs on average pay think that things are bad right now, and I think that the whole world thinks that they somehow deserve a lamborghini in their driveway because they got a degree in tourism from the University of Fuckallsville. I think that people need to stop looking at what they see other people appear to be earning and think about what the true picture is here.

There is no cost of living crisis, what there is is a cost of paying for not being able to wait until you can afford shit and now having to piss out 30% of your paycheck each month on finance for stuff you probably don't even own any more crisis.

Next time you (lets say a black man so it fits in with this thread) see a (lets say white man so it fits in with this thread) driving down the road in a car five years younger than yours with 50k less miles on it - just remember, he's probably not doing better than you, he's just borrowed more than you.

P.s. manual labour wages became high enough to offshore them to china two decades ago, there's a whole untapped world of impoverished people for the west to exploit before we start having to use robots to finger fuck our burgers, don't worry about that.
