Sonic Pocket Adventure shocked the world when it came out for the greatest Pocket system ever. Well some people anyway. ;-)  Finally Sega would have Sonic on a system other then a Sega system. This brought many Sonic fans to buy the Pocket to play the new great Sonic game or buy bundle that came with Sonic and a spiffy sliver Neo-Pocket Color. Yes December 1999 was a great month for the Pocket. How did this Sonic game rate you ask? Let me just say if you like Sonic in any way you should have this game!

Graphics- 10.0

The graphics look fantastic! Sonic is displayed in all of his 16-bit glory!. Its amazing what SNK and Sega did with this game. It just looks great.

Gameplay- 10.0

This game is very enjoyable. It reminded me of the old 16-Bit days when Sonic games didn't have find the 3 chaos emerald levels (ahem Rouge and unfortunately Knuckles in SA2 but getting back on-topic). The game seems to be based on Sonic2 the best of the Genesis Sonics in my opinion, and you'll go all the way from Neo-South Island to Final Utopia for that final fight with Robotnik (not Eggman).  There is no speed loss at all in this conversion to the Pocket and so the game becomes very enjoyable as you run through the Sonic levels sometimes jumping to avoid those pesky enemies. :-) There's many options available to after you beat the 1 player mode too. You can go to trial mode (to get the best time scores), puzzle room (put puzzle pieces you found together), and duel mode (where you can link up with a fellow Pocket fan!). You can of course collect all of the chaos emeralds in the Sonic 2 3d bonus levels to become Super Sonic!

Sound- 10.0

All my favorite Sonic music is back with a little bit of new stuff. The music is great in Sonic as well the sound effects. Your favorite (or most hated) "SEGA" sound is back in the beginning of the game too. :-)

Control- 10.0

As usual control in this pocket game is great. Very responsive and comfortable with the NGPC joystick.

Innovation- 8.0

It's a Sonic game run to the end and sometimes fight a boss no real innovation here. But on the other hand its a SONIC game and therefore gets a 8.0.

Replay- 10.0

This game reeks of replay value. You just want to keep playing for sheer fun for hours on end. Also getting the emeralds, trying to get the best times, and playing duel mode only adds to make this game perfect on our favorite pocket system.

Overall- 9.5

This game deserves to be bought! An enjoyable experience like no other on the NGPC go out and buy this game already! :-)
