Last Blade: A super review by ZeroMJ
Hmm... That super-incredible-ass-kicking-huge-meg-game put on the tiny little Neo-Geo Pocket Color? This version is perfect for the Neo-Geo gamer that doesn't have much money and hates load times! DON'T USE THE CD ALTERNATIVE!! PLEASE!! Horrible load times ruin that game. And the Home cart version is the best, most ass-kicking version, but it is usually found at $200 and up! So this game is an awesome version. Buy it immediately if you like LB games.
Graphics: 8/10
I give this section, an 8 out of 10! This is pure concentrated eye-candy for your Neo-Geo Pocket. All your favorite Characters are there such as Moriya and Washizuka! And they're looking great! The animation is great watching the characters move in perfect frame rate as they breathe and slash with their blades. Backgrounds look awesome, with lush, beautiful colors, but sadly... the Characters are missing a little color. Each fighter has 2 colors which are pretty much his/her only! The characters BLINK TOO! Its great! There is no blood nor fatalities which I thought would have made the game, but the same slash-cut-stab action is still there!
Controls: 8/10
I give this section an 8 out of 10 as well. The special moves aren't hard at all to pull off. And since there are only two buttons, A is slash, and B is kick. Kicks send your opponent flying into the end of the screen before they bounce of and land on the ground with a dust cloud around them! Such combinations like <+B give you a different slash and so on. These are VERY solid controls.
Sound: 7/10
Heart-filled little tunes and little slash sounds earn a 7 out of 10. You are treated to one sound that seems to fit well with every attack and when you slash your enemy with your weapon there is a little "CRPFF" sound that represents the sword penetrating your opponent. Very Nice!
Overall: 8.5/10
I give this game an 8.5 out of 10 because I just love it! It is an excellent port of Last Blade 2 onto the NGPC. All fighter fans should try this because it may keep them busy for hours. If your looking for a quick way to beat the game, play it on easy with Moriya, it will take you 15 or 20 minutes to beat the game. But it is an extreme challenge to finish this game on "hard". I highly recommend this! It's one of the best game to add to your NGPC collection. In fact, it kicks the ass off of some home cart games!
