Were AES Systems hand built at the factory?

You see Sony, M$, Nintendo pumping out their systems by the millions.

I know that they were put together on an assembly line. The cartridges I know for a fact were hand assembled. The boards were made by machine but the cartridge stickers were done by hand (placed on the cartridge that is). The cartridges were also put together by hand. You really can't have a machine do that. As for the systems, the boards, naturally, were done by machine. I am willing to bet that people put the actual system together. I know that around 340,000 Japanese units were made. I have seen American Neo Geo units hit the 200,000+ serial number. I have seen European units with over 100,000 serial numbers as well. I am willing to bet that over 700,000 Neo Geo units were produced world wide but certainly not 1,000,000. As for the CD and Pocket systems - I don't know about those. I am almost positive that they were assembled by hand though as well.

Well...

If AES systems are something near the 390,000+ mark , I guess it's quite not a chance they were handmade.

No, they are not the 390,000 mark as I have already said. There were around 340,000 Japanese units, over 200,000 American units, and over 100,000 PAL units that I know of. So I know for a fact that at least 650,000 were made. These units are usually put together by hand but everything is made by machine. They just have a bunch of people working on a line that screw them together. All computers are put together by hand if you didn't know and there are a lot more of them than Neo Geos. I know that fact about computers since a guy a know used to work for HP.

I wouldn't be surprised if the nearly finished product was put together by hand. Basically screwing the board and case together and then finally blessing the unit with the SNK spirit :D.

more or less,
there are no more than 360000 neo geo consoles

its a fact

stickers are put on cartridges by humans,
because they're never quite in the same position

and same goes for the inserts

i know that while stickers cant move once they've been glued to the plastic

inserts are free to move around under the plastic sleeve during transportation and such

but some of em are bent or damaged, even if they come from a fresh from the factory 6 pieces box

and that can only mean one thing...

He is right. There were less than 400,00 AES systems built. This link proves it.

He is wrong, JPN, US and EURO have independent serial numbers.

So the total of NGH systems produced would be JPN+US+EURO.

About the systems:

The boards were done by machine all the rest was assembled by hand.

Based on the information I gathered from this site the serial numbers run in sequential order from the first system to the last system built. The US, Jap, Euro, and Korean versions comprise the 390,xxx systems made.

Sorry my firend, but you are wrong. The highest serial # run was the total produced.

Why in the hell would the board revisions all match up perfectly to serial # estimation if your theory was correct?

JPN Serial 50,xxx - Revision 1
US Serial 50,xxx - Revision 1
Euro Serial 50,xxx - Revision 1

JPN Serial 100,xxx - Revision 2
US Serial 100,xxx - Revision 2
Euro Serial 100,xxx - Revision 2

JPN Serial 300,xxx - Revision 3 (RGB encoder change only)
US Serial 300,xxx - Revision 3 (RGB encoder change only)
Euro Serial 300,xxx - Revision 3 (RGB encoder change only)
Korea Serial 300,xxx - Revision 3 (RGB encoder change only)
