I want to build a consolized MVS. I’m not really sure about how to go about this; I have zero experience with arcade machines. I have searched the forum and found this site http://dasfool.aroo.tv/Index.html which was helpful. I just need some basic advice, like which motherboard to use, how to output the video to a TV, etc….. Any helpful information is appreciated. Thanks!

great site there. Just follow the instructions, sans the video; buy a jrok instead for excellent s-video output. I'd go the supergun route, instead of consolizing a mvs motherboard. If you have a hdtv, avoid the 4 slots at all costs and get a mv1fz. Otherwise, motherboard revisions don't much matter.

What makes the mv1fz more friendly towards HDTVs?

Only advice I can give is that certain games (Rage of the Dragons, maybe others) don't play nice with some 1 slot boards. You're okay with the majority of games, though.

Some HDTVs have refresh rate issues. A 4 slot would horizontally 'roll' on my friend's HDTV, while a 1fz worked fine. Both motherboards worked fine on conventional tv sets.

Didn't know that. That's strange.

I don't know much about HDTV compatability, but on my flat screen I swear to god that of all of the boards I have ever used, a MV1-C produced the best picture...

Maybe it was just me, it just seemed to look better.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. All I need to get this working is 1) MV1-C 2) JAMMA harness 3) Power Supply 4) Video convertor.

Will the harness just plug in to everything? It can't be that easy...can it?

I have a standard CRT TV.

dont' forget about an attenuation curcuit, all of the audio and video jacks, the power switch, an LED, a pause hook-up, some controller ports, and something to mount it all in.

and I am sure I forgot something....

Oh, and that's a consolized mv-1c in my icon ;)

Could someone who has done this before tell me how difficult it is to build? Can someone help me out with a list of stuff I will need to get?

Thanks!

no offense, but it's most likely too hard for guys like you, if you have to ask such questions.

None taken. I know that I'm capable of getting it working. I just need some info on how to get started. I don't have any experience with MVS hardware.
