Ok, I bought a couple of times here and a thing really makes me nuts: offers. Dude, you're coming on this thread to sell your stuffs so if you don't even know how much you can ask for, it's not our problem. As being mainly a buyer, I'm fed up with offers... If you wanna sell something, ask for a price. I don't wanna have to propose a price because it allows discussions like"35$! no 32, no 33$!"

So stop these and make a REAL sell, we're not in an auctions market...

Meh.
While I hear what you are saying all this really is is your gripe. The seller has every right ask for offers. Besides, any smart and educated buyer knows what to offer most of the time.

So because you don't like buying the way they like selling means they shouldn't sell like that? I think you should probably just get used to people not doing everything the same way as you.

I agree with Tristesse, the full "PM me with an offer" is bullshit. If you want an auction, just put it in ebay. Doing it this way is shady for the buyers, as the seller can invent some phantom "offers" in order to try to raise the price. Also no record is left on how much the item was sold for, so it makes it hard to know the value of the items for the next time somebody has a similar one for sale.
That's why the buyer first tries to lowball, and now I see the sellers say "PM with an offer, but no lowballing please". Shit, if you don't want lowballing then put a price for God's sake.

Ultimately, the seller has the right to do this as there's no rule against this practice here. In some other selling forums I've used there's the rule that the seller has to put a price for the stuff he sales, and is supposed to sell it to the first one that is ready to pay that price. Of course the seller can low the price if there are no buyers and a buyer can make a reasonable lower offer if still nobody has offered the starting price.

I agree as well.

If you are asking for offers, you wont be hearing from me -_-
I like knowing what you want and then being able to decide whether I am willing to pay that much (or little?) and then send a PM. What I dont like is having to PM back and forth 30 times which could take god knows how long just to decide that I would rather not buy it or something.

I'll stick to the sales that have prices. Thanks.

I agree as well. When you sell something, you know what the minimum price you will sell it for is, so just start out higher and don't drop below it. The thing about the Neo is that it seems like nothing ever drops in value, so just throw it up at what you paid for it or a little more and everyone will have a happy fun time.

I think if you're going to ask for offers, you should have them done in the thread for everybody else to see. Give a cutoff date, and the person with the highest offer gets it. That's how I've done it before, and you'd be suprised how well it works.

All ya gotta do is make an offer, and as long as it's not a total lowball, the seller will tell you how much they're looking to get. Works for me almost all the time.

The only time I would ask for an offer is on an item I have no clue the value of. Something that is not seen on egay or elsewhere and has no market value set. Take a few offers and you'll get a better idea of what people are looking to pay. Just my thoughts.

Sellers can do whatever they want, especially since people buy their stuff for what they want to sell it for and maybe even more.

Personally, I don't ever send people offers and only buy from the people that the prices upfront and preferably a good description as well. Imo, it just weeds out some of the bullshit.....

but who am I to tell someone how they have to sell their stuff or for how much?

I just don't even try and buy from them and wait and look for somebody else... and somebody makes an offer and buys their stuff so it works out for everyone. They may not sell their stuff as quickly as they would like to because they are waiting for somebody to bid more than their item is worth, but that's their business.

==============================================

and as long as it's not a total lowball, the seller will tell you how much they're looking to get

That's exactly why I don't buy from people when they ask for offers. It feels like they are telling you how much they're looking for based on your offer and not based on what the game is really worth or even how much they secretly want for it.

It just feels shady to me, but like I said..... they can do it if they want because it's their stuff.

yeah... but it could be good for the buyer as well.

some people have thrown stuff up for offers..... and I got a good deal from it.

Also, if I throw something up for offers.... and some offers.... I usually counter it, they accept, and the deal is done.

Sometimes the market price fluctuates.... and the going offer is a way to get that right instead of over pricing...... then everyone gets a fair deal.

but I hate putting prices up (sometimes) anyway because people will come and bargain them down. Not that it is a bad thing..... but putting up "for offer" gets the bargaining to the 2nd stage instead of trying to determine a price your self then bargaining from there. IT saves a step on both ends. :)

sure... some people abuse it.... but..... meh... people sell, people buy...as long as no one is getting scammed, we should be all good.

VERY TRUE!! No scamming = a happy sales forum..... and like I said......it's their stuff, they can choose to sell it how they would like.......just not to me,lol...which is probably my loss in the end anyways, as many people on this board that sell with offers are most likely very cool and honest people.....but that's my choice as well.

I stay out of those auctions....people buy their stuff....I find it somewhere else and buy it from them for a set price and everyone is happy :)

It's a free market.... and buyers and sellers have the option to do what they want. It's no reason to be pissed off, just do your own thing and everyone will be fine.

Every time a seller asks for offers, it makes me doubt if I really want the item or not.

This also makes me consider that the seller may want to wait for more offers, thus making the transaction less dynamic, and I like buying things fast, not having to wait.

by the way... I also wanted to stated that if you want to stop the offers... you should stop the wanted forum... because basically that is the exact reverse of a "make an offer" thred.

its just the buyer asking the seller for an offer.

I'm not a fan of offers either. You may as well have a forum auction at that rate. In any event, the seller should have an idea to the value of what they are selling, its common sense.

I agree. It is just frustrating to have to send an offer to a seller that already knows what they are looking to get out of it, but want to see if some newb is willing to pay out the ass for it.

I agree with eveyrone here, ofers are good;) . i sometimes take offers because as someone one said i don't know how much to sell i item for. Whats about if the price of the game is way to much. For example i have a aof 2 us version with no manual, eveyrhting in excellent condition. since you don't want offers than i sell you my aof 2 for $50 shipped:spock: how's that...

by the way e-mail me offers:smirk:

I don't mind making an offer as much as others, cuz sometimes i don't know the actual value of sompin. What really pizzez me off is when i PM the guy/gal and it won't go thru. If your gonna sell sompin or offer sompin then you should have the common sense to check your mail once a day or maybe 2wice. The only one that looses out w/ a full PM box is the Seller, cuz the buyer just loox elsewhere.

not necessarily. the buyer posting in the wanted forum can always put up a price range he's willing to buy an item for, and the seller can see if that's what he wants to sell his stuff for. sure, this is almost the same as making an offer on a selling thread, but i think whoever initiates the asking (buyer asking for an item or seller asking for buyers) should always put up a price, instead of haggling back and forth.

plus, if nothing else, the wanted forum is a good way for someone to sell something they might want to sell but not necessarily want to sell strongly enough to make a selling thread. for example, i had both the MVS and AES versions of 8man. i could do without one of them, but i didn't mind keeping both either. but someone was asking for the AES copy in the wanted forum and i was willing to oblige.

people who ask for offers only are only after the most they can get for their stuff

i am guilty of it as well

i guess they hope that somebody just needs that one last item and will offer a stupid amount to get it

I agree. Although it's not the end of the world, I'm not real big on the whole offers thing.

At the very least, I think the seller should give the buyers some idea of what he's looking for - maybe a range or a rough figure.

Well, how do I know what a lowball offer is? The price list is out of date, and I have no idea what anything is worth. If I send you an offer, not only are you going to think I am an ass, I still have no idea what the game is worth, and I have no chance to make a better offer.

This is funny for me as I was going to start this same exact post tonight. Post a fucking price for what you're asking. If you want to post offers go to ebay and do it there. How the fuck do I know if personX agrees to pay $25 for mark of the wolves and like a jackass and not knowing that I say $300.

I avoid anybody that posts offers. I don't even care if they have something I've been looking for 6 months.

This is good, but i would also add the phrase "or best offer".

I just bought my aes from Amix, a member here. He had a price + OBO. This let me know exactly what he was looking for, but didn't make me feel like an asshole when i offered a bit less due to the ad being up for a few weeks. Everyone was happy...
