MOTW is a classic, but 3rd Strike is the best 2d game ever made, hands down.

SF3 3RD kicks motw´s butt in every aspect i think. I also think motw is a bit over hyped.

MotW all the way. In thrid strike I play remy, but thats the only character I can really enjoy, In MotW I like almost everyone, plus the Griffon.

This poll is going to make me fire up my DC again for some comparison.

its almost a tie for me since i like both games.sf3 third strike has a better system(parrying, supers choice, super canceling, and the nice2 button half-a-super move) but with some really stupid charachters(orien, gill, and all the stupid white mutations)even though some are great like ryu(finaly having some new moves and stuff)alex, hugo, ibiky, dudly, remy(probably the only capcom charge charachter who has a none charge move and super)the music is awful(rap in fighting games,or the 007 ripoff yang and yun stage music).
motw had an average rate system(just defend properties,t.o.p.and thats it),but the charachters are very good mostly(terry:cool: rock, gato griffon, freeman,b jenet, kain, dong hwan etc...)the music is great too

strange thing is that both games tend to follow the other company a bit.sf3 does have a little SNK feel to it(like how they don't depend alot on basic pokes and attacks and have a little more dependance on landing comboes, also remy is a very snk-like charge guy)while motw is a little like capcom(basic, not much big combos, commands are little and used alone only)

so after this long speech i vote motw for being better overall.

the end finaly

I've played the DC-versions of both a lot, and MOTW is by far my favorite fighter ever.

Can't wait to get it on AES :eek_2:

I voted for Garou, even though I recognize that SF3:TS may technically be the better game...especially when it comes to the Parry vs Just Defend. A mis-timed JD can still result in a standard block, but a mis-timed Parry leave you open for big hurt (which I like).

I actually like the character design and animation of Garou better. IMO, SF3:TS is over animated to the point where it looks a bit weird to me. Besides, I just like the feel of it better.

Hmmmm.....now that I think of it, maybe I prefer Garou over SF3:TS is because I actually own it, while only playing SF3 in the 'cades. Maybe I should hunt down the DC version and get more time with it under my belt.....

I like MOTW a lot better character wise, All of the characters I enjoy playing with except for Hotaru. There are a lot of characters in SF3TS that I dont like for instance Q, and 12 I mean come on, I can think of better names than that! But both games have great fighting systems, but I still have to go MOTW.

SF3:3S

And except for the intro and character select screen music, most of the rest of the music in TS is awesome. One of my favorite fighting game soundtracks. While MOTW is aiight.

I also think 3S is a technically superior game. Parries, red parries, quick overheads, EX moves, dashes, super jumps, six button gameplay and more characters.

And Oro, Twelve, Necro, Gill, Q and Urien are freaky characters, but some of the designs in MOTW are kinda blah (Gato, Freeman, Kain and the chicks who reminds me of Athena)

Of course, this is just my thoughts Ladies and Gentlemen...

I love MOTW but I gotta go with SF3, the animations are just too smooth. I'm gunna go play it now...

my vote counts 2

I have to say Garou - Mark of the Wolves. I love Street Fighter 3: Third Strike but for me, Garou was the one SNK game that caused me to begin purchasing carts for my AES system again. Garou truly put SNK on a pedestal above all other 2D fighting game companies. Hell, I'd go so far as to say Garou is the best fighter of all time.

Garou all the way! SF:3S= shitty sweep animations, and generally over animated anyway.

Bingo! SF3:3S was over animated to the point where some aspects of it's presentation would of been improved by cutting a few frames. It was animated to the point where it overwehlmed and interfered with the gameplay. Sure characters like Elena were really eye candy but they detracted a bit from the gameplay.

In SF3 it almost seems like the timing of some moves are unnaturaly delayed while waiting for the animation to forcibly chug through it's motions. While the animation in Garou strikes a perfect balance between eye-candy and gameplay, as it seems far more natural than the former.

It's not that I think SFIII:3S is a bad game, I like the character designs, the conservative stance towards super moves and the variety of characters. It's a great game, in fact the only problem was it took several iterations to get to the point where it had a complete cast. I just happen to prefer Garou:MotW as the game just seems to have a perfect balance.

How can something be over animated? I'm not saying MOTW is bad game, I love it as a matter of fact, but this is Neo-fanboyism to the fullest. :oh_no: Over animated.....
