i just got my copy of SvC Chaos for the AES and it sounds ...i want to say... "staticy"? my first instinct was that it wasn't the beautiful cart but was the sound chip... yet all of my other games work with no problem. is there any quick solution anyone can think of...? or am i out of luck??? please someone help!!!!

Well we know the game is clean, and I havent heard of anyone else with that problem...But you can try a system cleaning kitt, or insert the cart all the way, then back it out "just a little"...;)

i cleaned it thoroughly... i really think my sound chip is FUBAR... i dunno.... i was planning on upgrading it to a "Super NEO" anyway... i mean, as far as the cart is concerned, the game play is fine, better than fine, possibly the best ever... i just need to mute the TV to play it in comfort. i dunno, it just saddens me... heh :oh_no: :oh_no: :oh_no:

av 1 yellow 1 white, nice and mono (blah) i tried using the headphone jack also, same result... this is why i am of the opinion that it is the sound chip or the game "misaligning" but i doubt the latter because i have tried vehemently to align it differently with the same result.... :help:

..

you sould get a generic cleaning kit with the plastic things with the plastic/felt like material and give it a good one...
If that doesn't work all might be lost, OR
replace your slots...

like i said i did clean it thoroughly...

all of my other games sound fine... this is why i do not believe it is something as drastic as needing to replace my slots... if after i heve it converted to a super neo it is still buggy then i will worry about replacing it... i wish i had another AES to test the cart on though...

:oh_no:

That really sucks!!! It's the actual, legit cart, eh? Hmmm, I know on brand new games, there's a thin coating of somthing or other that makes the first few times a bit rough, but they work fine after that (if anything happens at all). Good luck!

hmmm.... if there was a coating why isn't anyone else having this problem? :( i dunno i would've thought cleaning the cart would fix any "contact" problems... as to it being a legit cart i would certainly hope so... i did purchase it from the neostore :loco:

if anyone else comes across this problem please let me know...

:D thanks :D

hmmm... okay, i just cleaned the cart again, stuck it in my system and the BGM is lacking static but the SFX are all messed up.... i think i am going to cry :spock: :crying: :(

maybe it is misaligning... i really have no clue what to think...

anyone else with help? :help:

and i am correct in the deduction that us and jp cart chipsets are identical and that only the packaging is different... or is this a rare case?

i dunno :oh_no: i am all sorts of out of sorts... thank you to everyone who has helped already....

EDIT: in order for me to get any "ok" sound i need to reset it twice... it is oddd..... and the sfx have the same static to them... well, some of them do.... it is hard to explain... :help:

Are you playing with a memory card plugged in?
I had a similiar problem with KOF2000 when I first got it and couldn't figure it out. Then I ended up playing it without having a memory card plugged in the noise had disappeared. After testing it out with a couple of different cards I found that I only got the static and noise when one specific card was plugged in.

alas... i am unfortunate and have no memory card... i know, i am lame... :eek_2: so i cannot test that theory... maybe my problem is the opposite... perhaps i need a memory card? :spock: i dunno... i have been battling this problem for two days... perhaps i should give up for tonight and go to bed...

thanks for the input everyone.

Good luck. Hopefully I won't have the same problem when my SVC gets here Monday or Tuesday.

I'm hoping that your problem is just the coating on the pinout that always seems to be there with new carts. Mine was having slight problems at first, but they all went away after a good cleaning. Good luck.

Heh, found back that tread :D

Ok, had 2 carts on hands with static sound for repair, problem comes from a little PCB SNKP are putting on V1 chip :

On both carts that damn ugly thing had a broken/unsoldered wire.
Fit back the wire (to the correct location) and you're done.

That's some shitty manufacturing, expect the same problem with multiple SS5 carts...
