I think game makers are losing their creativity or maybe it's just... we are losing ours. Maybe too many of the good ideas have already been taken up. I dunno what the fuck it is but as I grow older "current" games just don't bring that fire or gaming zest out in me. Oh well.

*cue Sean Penn's voice from Fast Times At Ridgemont High voice*

As long as I have the "classics" I'll be fine.

Pyro my droog... how can you not like Freedom Fighters? Cool for only two stages? Shit it doesn't get good until you're halfway though that game. *Personally I'm hoping for a follow up (or even Side Story... even going so far as machine gunning out my own plot line, characters, level design theories, etcetera I'm going to mail to EA/Lo Interactive)... and just ordered the Soundtrack by Jesper Kyd. That's a game that could spawn at least two more games. I personally found this game a re-freshing change from most of the stuff out there... though I will agree with you on Panzer Orta, I was into it for the first 20 minutes and just never returned to it. *I guess it's to each their own anyhow.

Okay, I have something to rant about:

Devil May Cry 2

I had such high expectations for this game ever since
DMC1. When I finally got it, I was thrilled. Yet, as time
went on, I began to see it for what it was, and as a
result, could no longer defend it when criticized by
other players.

What it did right:

+added the ability to shoot two enemies at a time
+included a new character that was fun to play as
(Lucia, who uses twin blades and throwing knives)

What it did wrong:

-made Dante much slower when attacking
-the shotgun was nowhere near as useful,
mainly due to causing Dante to float when
fired in mid-air, rather than drop to the ground
as in DMC1
-no real point in switching melee weapons other
than for cosmetic reasons
-uninspired enemies and bosses, all of which
could be beaten in the same way: shoot, move,
shoot, move (contrary to the enemy specific
stategies of DMC1, which required more than
simply shooting)...
-dull environments, save for a few missions
here and there
-secret missions that are all the same: kill a room
full of enemies and move on (DMC1's secret missions
having variable objectives, including ones that
require doing more than simply killing)
-unlike DMC1, which was easy or hard based on
the skill of the player (which can be improved by
playing on the higher difficulties, especially
Dante Must Die), DMC2 is only hard because of
cheap enemy attacks that simply can't be avoided
(such as the goat demons that fly in the air, firing
energy barrages while you're busy fighting another
enemy on the ground, making the frustration even
greater if the goat demon is in Devil Trigger mode,
making it so that hitting him will not even make
him budge, should you choose to go after him first).
Otherwise, DMC2 is no challenge at all, especially on
lower difficulties (Dante Must Die/Lucia Must Die
being the only ones where enemies Devil Trigger).

Overall, DMC2 is an average game by itself, but
dismal when compared to DMC1, and quite possibly,
the most disappointing sequel in years.

I would, but I don't have a Gamecube. :( I'd like to get
one (especially when considering the price drop),
but I had a lot of other things planned for PS2
(mainly KoF 2000/2001, Bloody Roar 4, Time Crisis 3,
and Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, among others).

I agree that DMC2 seems very average when compared to the awesome DMC1.
It seems that the main reason why the sequel wasn't that great was because of that new development team who handled the game. The old team along with shinji mikami was busy working on other projects such as the RE remake, RE 0 and RE 4.
I hope the older, more experienced development team takes charge of DMC 3 if they are planning a sequel.

DMC 2 does not feel as solid as DMC 1 especially the gameplay. The enemies are nowhere as classic as the enemies found in DMC 1 and they don't require much strategy to beat either unlike in DMC 1 where using the wrong weapon on those frosts could mean death. One other thing that i liked about DMC 1 is the ability to buy new moves and the ifrit. They were cool as hell.i don't like DMC 2's level up feature.

I do like certain things about the sequel especially the ability to transform into a super demon with some cool new damaging moves when your health is red and also the improved rolling which made avoiding the enemies attacks easier.

Hehe, I feel your pain man. There has been nothing but garbage for the Xbox as of late.

Tiger Woods 2004
ESPN Football 2004
NBA Streets Vol. 2
Moto GP 2

These have been taking up most of my time as of late, but if you're not a sports fan it's difficult being an Xbox fanboy, even more so if you don't have a modded Xbox.

The next couple months promises to provide "quality" titles.

Grabbed by the Ghoulies 10/22
TMNT 10/22
ESPN Basketball 10/22
Morrowind Game of the Year Edition 10/28 (please, no bugs!)
True Crime 11/5
FIFA 2004 11/5
GTA Double Pack 11/5
LotR: Return of the King 11/5
XIII 11/7
MoH: Rising Sun 11/12
LoK: Defiance 11/19
Star Wars: Jedi Academy 11/19
Counter-Strike 11/19
Max Payne 2 12/3

If you're not excited about at least a couple of these, then you might as well stick to playing teh romz on the Xbox, because this is as good as it's going to get until 1st-2nd quarter 2004.

He doesn't like because it is yet anther squad based FPS game that sucks. Imagine haveing so little creativity that you have to rip off an old 80's movie to make a game.
Hell I couldn't even stand messing with the demo for more than 5 minutes. I would rather be forced to play the Magic the Gathering game on the XBox than this turd. IMHO.

Ok simple question= simple answer!!!

To tell you the truth the simple answer isnt revilutionary or even something you havnt heard befor.

Im 19 and feel sorry for my fellow teenagers (oh here is the simple answer) cuz unlike them and most not all game developers for them its all about graphics not gameplay story or plot.

They put every detail into the graphics so much so that it leaves no more room for the story or whatever else needs to be done to make a great no sorry tolirable game.

Take alittle older than most but still works for this refrence lunar silver star story complete for psx this is of course if youur a rpg fan.. has little graphics but great story and gameplay that spurs you on just to see what happens next. Same goes for even older or newer depending on the way you look at it Chrono Trigger nothing fantastic in graphics but story and fun all there in spades.

Now for the great graphics and sorry gameplay example ummm....
Well i have a mental block and cant think of any good examples right now but you get the point and already mention enough games to prove my point laterz:spock:

I'm upset over issues of games that are:

1.) PC Games that contain mainly FPS by the dozen, last good one I ever played was Duke 3D, yet they are redundant after the 9th stage I'd say
2.) RPG's on PC are too confusing, too many options, and way too much crap to do. Good for long lasting gameplay, but if your playing a MMORPG, then there really is no purpose except live the adventure, there isn't an ending at all.
3.) PC Games that require too many "requirements" seriously, you're killin me here, I think my PC is ok, but some of these 3D games are murder for the average person who doesn't know jack about PC's
4.) Anything that Squaresoft makes, is adored in a heart beat, getting really sick of that. There is a shitload of game companies who never get noticed
5..) Kids who bitch about "Graphics" in today's next gen, when they don't even have the inkling of what the hell GAMEPLAY IS!
6..) Game stores that market off the classics as junk piles, mistreated, and managled cart labels on SNES/Genesis/N64 games
7..) Another 3D CastleVania? Didn't Konami learn from two mistakes? It's OK but we need 2D, heck if Capcom learned to stay away from 3D, why can't Konami? Know your roots son! Love what you are and don't try to change your appearence to be with the in-crowd!
8.) Nintendo holding 98% of the portable market with GBA for the past decade and a half almost. Yet people bitch that they are hurting? Who's lying here?
9.) Japan getting all the sweet sweet extra goodies in their games when they pre-order stuff. Sure now we get some ok stuff, thanks to the people who ranted and bitched to them, demanding stuff like "Free Zelda Bonus disk" etc. (We should do this till we're blue in the face Japan? I guess so)
10.) People trashing other game systems, leave them the hell alone, "Why do you hate Xbox/Cube/PS2, when Xbox/Cube/PS2 does not hate you?"
11.) Crazy ass kids (Whom appear out of NOWHERE) who can play an arcade game and kick your ass in a game of Soul Calibur 2, MVC2, CVS2, or SVC Chaos, who are these prodigies and what secret communist-nazi lab is breeding them? They really scare me more then Chucky or Demonic Toys movies

I don't think graphics are the problem.

Because the amount of game companies has increased dramatically since the past, one can predict we see more crap games. The ratio of good games to bad games is usually higher though, then there are fanboys who will praise anything as long as it's made by (insert game company here).

Growing up I was a Sonic the Hedgehog fan. I would play the Sonic games for hours. Recently I bought a copy of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the GC and I'm loving it. Changing the game to 3D didn't take away anything. Currently I'm trying to achieve an A rank in all missions.

I don't comment on FPS or Sports games because I'm not into those particular genres. So I usually review games which don't fall into the above categories.

As for DMC2, it was poorly made. Because the enemies interrupted your attacks, getting a Stylish combo involved:
Stinger, Shoot, Dodge, Shoot, Dodge, Shoot, another Stinger and so on. How boring is that to watch? The original DMC was packed with combos galore.

I still don't get the storyline to DMC2. All of a sudden you're playing as some chick you don't even care about. Who is the villain in the game? Everything was just poorly introduced. They just show up and you fight them.

Uhhh... dude, Freedom Fighters is a 3rd Person Action-Adventure game heavily influenced by RED DAWN, with some FPS (actually "over the shoulder") segments. First time we get to fight a war on our own soil and you have to poo, poo it. Oh well... guess you can't please everyone.

How is PN03?

I watched the demo of it on the Viewtiful Disc and it looked interesting.

Hot girl, lots of cool attacks, jumping and dodging over massive laser/bullet/rocket fire in a futuristic world. - Seems like a fun ride.
