what does everybody think about the gp32

I saw a gp32 for sale on lik-sang and what interested in it. I have never heard of it, adn i would like to know what you guys think a about it.

Not worth it IMO.

I owned mine for 4 hours before selling it.

Its actually horrible.

Screen is better than GBA though.

The games suck, you have to trawl through emulation websites to find any decent software to run on the thing, and the USB connection is dodgy as hell (at least it is on my PC).

That said, the screen is dead nice, and it has stereo sound output.

One for the 'hobbyist' I suppose.

Well personally I love it. The officail games do suck hard core. But there many sites out there that you can download games for it and they are just great. And the Emulation is really cool as well. I I have had mine for quite some time now. I would sugest it to anyone.
You can even watch Divx Movies on this little system.

the simple emu power behind the system makes it worth a look. The games are pretty cruddy right now, but who cares when you can have any emu you want on there. MAME, SNES, gbc etc...

if i buy a 128 smart media card, how many roms(how many megs) can fit onto it? Also will i be able to save in my games?

128 media card will hold 128 megs of roms. Depends on the game really. plus you need to save room the emu prog itself. it plays mp3's if you care for that... Most of the emu's now support save. check the version notes to be sure.

just released...you can play divx movies as well....

wow! 128 megs! I always thought that you divide the number by 4, you buy a 128 smart media card, you get 32megs of storage. How big is the the emu prog? Also, do the emulators for it run at full speed? How would i transfer files to it? Would i leave the card in the gp32 and use like a printer port connection?

you would have to use the usb to pc connection. Most emu's for it are great ports from the pc version. Uniracers for SNES will obvisouly cause slowdown. Emu's are less than 10 megs.

are there any perfect nes emus for the gp32? Can you tell me what emus for the gp32 are perfect emus(run at perfect speed). hey NeoSneth, how much did you buy yuor gp32 for, and where?

nes runs perfect for the games i played with it. I only played a few snes. Look around for info on that link i posted. i haven't tested many of them. Lik-sang is basically the only place with these, but i think gamechoice.com.hk is able to get them for you as well.

right so say I got a 32mb smc card with some roms, and I find that all this registration and downloading stuff is way too complicated for me. Than in theory I can just get someone who does know how to do that stuff, and get them to sell me a 128mb smc card with all the roms I need, so that I can just push the card in and have the games ready to play??

If so will anyone sell to me?

i have a GP32, it's great. THe screen is excellent, my only real complaint is that the joystick is a tad loose for my taste, and it's not that easy to make it tighter, though it is with a little bit of extra care.

There are some AMAZING amateur games made for the system, like BloodCross (http://www.bloodcross.com), probably the best fighting game for any handheld. It's a real different type of game, tactical fighting, with a really smart control system that avoids any potential problems with poor handheld control. THe game isn't completely released yet, but the demo is out, and it's free. I play it quite a bit, and reportedly you can play online with the USB cable, though i haven't been able to get it to work, i think the servers may be down.

NES emulation runs perfectly, what a good way to play the old megaman games, you know?

SNES emulation is getting there, PC Engine emulation is also almost perfect.

Genesis emulators have just come out as well, and a new MP3 player that plays all bitrate MP3s through the GP32's stereo speakers.

128 MB is actually quite a lot of space as well.

I'd say, just don't buy it for the commercial games, because, as many people have said, they aren't that great.

JoyGP is a place online where you can exchange funds (credit card payment is currently down, but you can use paypal) for Korean won (KRW) to buy games online. You download the game directly from the site, and you'll be able to do so for 5 more days after the purchase. The game is copied to the SMC (THe GP32 can write to SMC), and then you can play it from there. Non-commercial (free) games are downloaded in the same way, except you download them from different places and you don't have to pay.

That game looks cool GML, but how's the commercial library for those of us that don't speak korean? I recall seeing a fairly cool tactical rpg, but it was all in korean from what I recall.
