And which do you prefer? I was just wondering what people's impressions of the different hardware revisions were.

At the moment, I just have the traditional top-loader. I'm fairly happy with it. I would love to get a front-loader someday, just to add to the collection. I have also been looking at the CDZ for a long while, but I am concerned with their fail rate. Do they tend to overheat as I have heard?

I'd like to hear from some of the front-loader/CDZ owners. :)

I'll only probably get a Neo CD if I really get into collecting. I'm more gamer than collector and I prefer the carts to the CDs. What can I say, I'm impatient make_fac

I have all three. My favorite is the TopLoader
quickly followed by the CDZ, the FrontLoader I like
too, but for some reason I like the normal toploading
the best. I have never had any problems with any
of my systems so I can't really talk about all of
those problems people talk about having with the
CDZ etc...

Hmm, thanks for the input so far. Shady, I am personally into MVS for the most part. I got my CD system awhile ago though, and I couldn't bear to part with it, despite trying many times. I like the extra features you get with CD games, and they have a certain collectible quality to them. I think that's why a lot of people collect CD stuff, despite being into AES or MVS already.

I have an original top loader that works most of the time, but I can tell the drive is going to die soon. I have a replacement coming in the mail, so its no biggie.

The thing I love most about the system are the one-time loaders, and SS3.

I could do with out the controllers.

I own all 3 models but the only one that ever gets any use is the CDZ. I like its small compact size and it does load noticeably faster than the other systems. I'm on my second CDZ system, my first one died after 4 years.

I currently have a top-loader. No complaints here. I can't compare it to the other 2 though, as I do not own them. Sorry, I guess I am not being too helpful huh?

I also would like to agree with the 1 load games, or games that have short load times. They make the NGCD worth owning! You can pick up the games for cheap and still get a great experience out of them, sometimes you get great little bonuses too wink

Agreed. Games like League Bowling on the NGCD simply rock. One load, and you're ready to get it on. Does anyone have a list of the single-load games?

I have both the front loader and the US top loader. They seem like cool systems but I rarely play either one as I have most the games I want on NGH or MVS format. Some day I will pick up a copy of Iron Clad though.... =]~ ~

Baseball Stars II is awesome, one big load at the beggining and that's
it. You can also save automatically, which is cool
when trying to play a complete season. The machine
saves for you in between innings for if you get tired in the middle of an inning you can quit
and comeback at whatever stage you left the game
on.

Thank You,

Jorge

I've got a Front Loader and I've never had any problems with it. It's a nice piece of kit have from a collectors point of view, but if you just want to play the games then use an emulator (with the original games). You have don't have to put up with the long loading times, and the money you save can be put towards games.

I've owned every version of the Neo CD at one point or another. For me, the best version is the CDZ then the front loader then the top loader. I like the overall design of the frontloader, but the lack of an external eject button is annoying. The toploader is just, well, there. Nothing too special. For the Neo CD gamer, the CDZ is where its at. The added ram takes some of the edge off the load times, but then again even the CDZ isn't going to help out the fighting games.

Top Loader and CDZ.

My favorite is the CDZ, because of loading times.

I have never had a problem with any.

My custom modded Toploader with Blue LED and fancy red language switch is the cat's meow. I really love some of the sountracks and 1 load games. Need to get BBstars2 for cheap.

Got me a cdz and cd, but for some reason I got fuck all games. I only got 44. With 4 sealed us ones on the way.

Rade man, you gotta hit me up with some contact info or a AIM or ICQ ID.
I would love to see that blue Led cd system in action? Hows that look all lit up?

I had all three CD systems over the years. A few months ago, I sold my CDZ, so all I have are two standard top loaders, one of them unmodded, the other one is a NTSC-converted US/Euro system with a language switch. This is my main playing machine, that's why the lid is quite creaky now, finding and installing a replacement for it will be my next project

The front loader was nice, but too bulky, and I had problems with the CDZ. Some games (in particular RBFFS, AoF3, RBS2 and KoF99) hic-up'ed like hell after the machine warmed up. According to my research, this sometimes happens with the first run of CDZs that have some kind of case design flaw which is responsible for excessive heat.

I have 73 games (mixed JPN and US/EU)... I don't really intend to get them all, but there still are some I want but couldn't find for a good price, MD2, Overtop, etc.

I have had 2 CDZ Systems (one new) and got I/O Errors on them both. I have had my Top Loader for a month now and now issues at all. In fact, I love it, but still long to have a CDZ as an extra system. MS1 loads are fast. MS2 are long. But, that gives me time to drink and snack during loads glee I love my Neo CD and will collect only that for now.
