I got a puzzle de pon today which has what looks like an original label, no warning sticker.. V1 is a chip with the number 044 (art of fighting), C4+6 (I think) are 057 (World Heroes 2), 1 V and 2 C roms are NEC chips, proms (not eproms), and M1 and P1 are eproms labeled "PB3".
any idea what this is?
it works flawless as PDP.

snk took a bunch of world heros carts and made them into puzzle de pon's. they probably had a big excess, and needed some de pons fast.

This was done many other times by snk.

<a href="http://arakon.dyndns.org/pdp" target="_blank">PdP pics</a>

there's soldering at the bottom which seems like chips were removed. it seems like it was possibly a converted cart by SNK, going by the left over original chips.

hmm.. but why are there chips for THREE different games? PDP, AOF, and WH2.
also, can someone list the chips used in WH2, would be interesting to try and turn this into a switchable cart, i.e. by adding S/M roms for WH and switching between the chips to use the existing original chips on it.

Well, they did this a lot and we never see ccarts like this ?

Still looks boot to me.
C1 & C2 should be 8megs
V2 should be V1
SNK use color codes or stickers, no hand writing on chips.
Also, no reason tu use PCBs from 2 different games.

Bottom of the boards pics ?

I have at least 5 or 6 of these like it.

It has two or more legit snk chips on it for puzzle de pon. That means that they would have to sacrifice an original cart to make 1 boot? That just doesnt add up.

Looks like they used a WH2 CHA board and a AOF PROG board.
It's original because it has original PDP chips inside.
SNK did hand writing on chips, I have a FF2 home cart with a M1 or S1 (I can't remember which one was) Eprom with hand writing on chip.

I noticed a glitch.. during the demo, it explains the ball types, and just before it explains the "allow ball", the entire area where text would be is filled with round, yellow glitches.. looks like single color versions of the balls or something, then it jumps to the normal text.

does that happen for anyone else, and does anyone know what rom is at fault for it so I could possibly replace it with a fixed one?

Just checked my carts and the roms match the audited mame sets as far as I can see.
