Looking at the latest screenies of that NGBC for AW, I quickly began to think of the possibility of a special case made for the AW carts........

BIG BEAR - what say you man! I realize it would be probably a year or so down the road but this would be cool as hell.

Unless im a dumbass for thinking of such nonsense.

I would say that right now the AW home market is so small that this is quite pointless...
In any case, the AW carts are so small that I am pretty sure you could find some box that fits them well.

I just tried it, and a regular VHS case works pretty well, width and deep are about perfect, but of course height is double the required, you could fit 2 AW carts easily in one VHS case.

Well, one may arrange an inner custom tray or something, just to better house the cart! :)

Producing insert in that format should also be pretty easy, as the standed VHS case format it's a very common template!

The Neo's first 11 games (should be how many the AW has including NG Battle Colliseium)

NAM-1975
Baseball Stars Professional
Top Player's Golf
Mahjong Kyoretsuden
Magician Lord
Riding Hero
Alpha Mission 2
Ninja Combat
Cyber Lip
The Super Spy

of these I would only say that NAM-1975 was any good, and at that I would doubt that any of these were any significant arcade success.

First, you can't even count up to 11 as you named just 10 titles and forgot Sengoku Denshou.

Second, you must be either mad or retard to say "only say that NAM-1975 was any good".

Magician Lord is pure magic.
Top Player Golf is DAMN GOOD.
Sengoku Denshou is classy as hell.
Cyber Lip still is a great game (someway superior to the whole Slug series in some gampley aspects)
Baseball Pro is great as well.

Just to say the least.

Yep I apologize Sunshine being in the list at 8 threw me off. But in that case the 11th game is Mutation Nation not Sengoku.

But in my opinion NAM-75 was the only game that I enjoy.

Past that just because they're good doesn't mean that they had any success in the arcade. Chad Okada himself has said that Magician Lord was a failure in the arcades.

I'm just going to say that those games were a joke compared to the heavyweights of the arcade at that time, specially CPS1 titles.

What are you saying?

Here are the first 11 Neo-MVS release (the 1990 ones):
Nam 1975 - 1990.04.26 (¥28,800)
Maajyan Kyou Retsuden ~Nishi Nihon Hen~ - 1990.04.26 (¥28,800)
Baseball Stars Professional - 1990.04.26 (¥28,800)
Top Player's Golf - 1990.05.23 (¥32,000)
Ninja Combat - 1990.07.24 (¥28,800)
Riding Hero -1990.07.24 (¥32,000)
Minasan no Okadesamadesu ~Dai Sugoroku Taikai~ - 1990.07.24 (¥28,800)
The Super Spy - 1990.10.08 (¥32,000)
Cyber Lip - 1990.11.07 (¥28,800)
Joy Joy Kid - 1990.11.20 (¥28,800)
League Bowling - 1990.12.10 (¥30,000)

If you go with the first AES batch, the carton boxed games, you may add:
Ghost Pilots - 1991.01.25 (¥32,000)
Sengoku Densyou - 1991.02.12 (¥34,000)
King of the Monsters - 1991.02.25 (¥36,000)
Raguy - 1991.03.14 (¥28,000)
ASOII ~Last Guardian~ - 1991.03.25 (¥30,000)
Thrash Rally - 1991.11.08 (¥36,000)

Now please tell what you mean with:
Mutation Nation - 1992.03.16 (¥36,000)

Sorry Lithy, but we're in 90/91 anymore.

And yes, many of those games were amazing for their time.

NAM 1975 : Still very enjoyable
Baseball Stars : Obsolete just because of Baseball Stars 2
Magician Lord : Who didn't got this game for the Neo ?
Riding Hero : Short ( arcade game btw ) , but has a superb Story mode
Alpha Mission II : Not cool enough for a '91 arcade hooter ??
Cyber Lip : A classic. Still gives more fun than MS4/5
Top Players Golf : Neo Tur Masters took his crown

we're in 2004, it's obvious that we expect more from new systems. Bear in mind that the Neo in 91 was the greatest powerhouse hardware while the AW is an arcade platform and has less power than a home console such as the Xbox.

Arcade systems specifications were used to own home systems. It just doesn't happen anymore. :(

That's what happen when you try to upgrade a *retro*(game) environnement (2d), with a next-gen(wannabe) tech (Naomi).

You only achieve a stinkin' frankenstein monster.

Sorry only list I have to reference is the Master List, though I guess I should know they weren't released according to their assigned NGH numbers by now :p

@Atro

Again I agree that people can find these games fun, although I don't, I'll admit I'm not a fan of many early Neo games. But the main point I'm making is that like Amano says, compared to some other releases of the time, these games did nothing in the arcade except for introduce the hardware that would become and arcade mainstay by SamSho2.

As for the comments on the hardware, I think I'm to the point of thinking that the hardware lines of console and arcade are insignificant. You wouldn't expect SNKP to produce hardware that had as big a power gap between it and the XBox as the Neo was to the NES would you? The thing to do now is to produce great games that sponsor good competition, or games that have exlusive hardware (like DDR). Otherwise as has been the case there is no purpose for going to arcades.

Exactly my friend, USA really sucks in this department (competition) at least in my area.

I may agree the very first batch of Neo games was someway exploring a new (at times) hardare thus far by unleashing the full power of the machine, but hey, don't get it that far.

AoF was way before SamSho2, you know. FF2 also was. And others.

Besides, even Magician Lord has a use of a palette which is totally charming, still magnificent today. Same for Sengoku Denshou atmosphere.
