Hi,

I have some questions that I know will probably annoy people - but I am new to this whole 'scene' so please take it easy.. all I have is a Hyper 64, not even an MVS yet..

However, I am interested in getting Samurai Showdown V Special..

The questions are:

1/ Did SSV-Special get released on MVS?
2/ If it did, did it get the fatalities?
3/ What are the differences between SSV and SSV-Special?
4/ What is the general opinion of SSV/SSV-Special - is it worth getting?

Again, I reiterate, please take it easy - I'm not as experienced with SNK stuff as you all.

Thanks,

David

1. Yes it did, but only a JAP release. Maybe 1500-2000 pcs.
2. It does have the fatalities
3. SSVSpecial features some reworked/finetuned moves and damage amounts. It's more balanced. SSV does have a story mode, but it's only in Japanese. SSV has three characters that SSVS does not have, one accessed by a button code, 2 unlocked with a BIOS. SSVS on the other hand has 4 characters that SSV doesn't have, and they are readily playable.
4. I think SSVS is the best in the series. Excellent. Fast and violent. SSV doesn't have the fatalities, But it is quite cheap on the MVS.

Is a DEV bios enough to access Yumeji and Sankuro?

If so, can you tell me how? :)

Thanks in advance.

Since nobody answer your questions, let me help you instead. :glee:

- Turn on dip 1-6 dipswitches on the debug menu
- Hold down the A button and press D to cycle through the characters.
You will cycle through the characters random and can choose Yumeji and Sankuro in between.

Switch off the dips after you choose your character as the dips also enable Infinite life for both players.

However you cannot choose poppy and the last boss from this method.
Sadly you can only fight 2 stages using Yumeji or Sankuro, the game will hang after that. :very_ang:

<hidden mode on +>The only way to play them perfectly is using emulator, see my xbox version screen shots. ;)
Please do not ask me about roms or emulators.<hidden mode off ->

1) thank you my friend! :)

2) I see portrayts for poppy and Gaoh... is the unibios capable of accessing the same thing the emulation can do?

3) I swear it's a shame Yumeji is missing from SSZS. I don't mind Sankuro, which is too much of a comical character, but Yumeji is nice. With a nice bg as well... bah!

The unibios cannot do that because those screenshots are from a modified rom.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. ;)

I'd have to agree that omitting Yumeji from SSVS is a damn shame. They could have at least removed her morphing skills for balance and then added a couple of unique moves for her...

Anyway, someone here posted a link to a SSVS fatalities video in his streamload account . I wanted to view that video, but sadly it is not available now. I hope that anyone who has the video can send it to me or provide a link. I am thinking of making a torrent for it... pm me if you're willing or able to help.

Thanks.

I am pained that Sankuro was removed. He should have replaced Gaoh-X and been readily usable. I don't miss Yumeji but she would have been a good keep if they removed her morphing or modified the morphing to resemble chars that look similar and not identical to the roster chars.

I can't get how come everyone hates Yumeji's morphing capabilities.

She uses it just for SOME MOVES! It's not like a stupid Shang Tsung thing.

Moreover, her shapeshifting capabilities are even storywise explained, plus the morthing effect is super cool! :)

I don't hate the morphing affect, I just feel that I'm bored by her maybe because she does'nt startegically morph. I don't see a distinct personality in this character because she morphs too much imo. I will be acquiring (already committed) the home version of this game shortly so I'll get into it abit more.
I'd choose Yumeji's design/concept over Gaoh-X,that's for sure.
