I everyone, just got back from my trip to Hong Kong & Vietnam :)

Let's start things off on a good note. I finished these joysticks a couple months ago but never had a digicam to post them. So here they are...

whiteonwhite.JPG

They're universal Pelicans real arcade joysticks with Happ competition joysticks & Happ competition buttons (convex for the action buttons and & concave for the start, select, & mode button).

I would like to thank Shapermc for telling people on this forum this joystick is worthy of a purchase & upgrade. I would also like to thank Dallas_Five for being the first one to post his painted pelican joystick here on the forum

Let's skip to July 9, 2004...(one day before my trip to Hong Kong)

R.I.P. you lovely 3.2 Liter, 230 hp monster. I will never forget the memories I had with you.

Don't worry, no one was hurt & it only involved me, no one else. All I can recall is going to Marshall's to buy some clothes before the trip. The first Marshall's I went to only had socks that I wanted, so I was on the road to the next Marshall's to buy some pants and shirts.....

This is the best timeline I could make:

??:?? - Accident occured (fell unconcious)

12:59 pm - this was the time on the police report (so I guess he arrived at 12:59pm)

??:?? - I eyes opened inside the ambulance during the trip to the hospital. Then I fell back asleep or unconcious.

??:?? - "Woke up" inside a cat scan machine, fell back to "la la land".

4:00pm - Woke up slowly to see my clothes cut up into pieces and my left forearm covered in dried blood scabs (from the broken window I'm guessing).

Okay okay, enough with boring you. Anyways its 3 hours of my life I can't remember and I'm still not sure if I want to...

July 10 - July 31

Went to Hong Kong & Vietnam. First time to Hong Kong and second time to Vietnam. Probably the worst trip ever, end of discussion...not much worth talking about.

August 3

First thing I did was see my car. The mechanic (family friend) told me fixing the car will be more costly than just buying another one. So I'm gonna take a break of college (I don't mind of course :tickled: ) and work full time to save up for another car. Luckily I don't go out much so saving money has always been easy for me. However, I do need something to do indoors. Luckily I won this ebay three days ago at a very good price :loco:

To get an idea of how big it is, here's a picture of it in front of my 27 inch TV

Well sorry if your asleep by now, I guess I just wanted to "let out" what has been going on in my life. Take care everyone :buttrock:

thats an amazing job you did with the pelican!

i have one for the PS2.

are they pretty easy to fix up like that? Where did you order your buttons? what kind of paint did you use?

I would ship mine to you and pay you for your work if you felt like fixing one up!

nice job on the PS also... how did you not fuck up the logo on the casing?

fucking amazing man.

If you could apply those talents to your car, im sure you would find yourself employed by MTV's "Pimp My Ride".

These are some interesting pix... but I am mostly glad you seem to be keeping a cheerful mood, in spite of your accident...

I've had one serious accident so far, which resulted in my WRX in the shop for about a month, and a shitty rental car... and It was a pretty dark time in my life... luckily I had my girlfriend to keep me from falling into a total depression.

Luckily I had some good insurance...but of course now my rates are sky high...

Nice IIDX Controller by the way...

I guess if you have the Pelican Already that might be a good idea... but for that look... and you are in the market for a nice Arcade Stick... your better off going with a MAS.

Although to be fair.. I believe the above stick only works with the neo...

Having A Neo Style Xbox/PS2 Stick would be kinda cool...

Nice sticks. I just finished modding another universal stick to put a Happs Super in there instead of the stock joystick they put in there.

Here's the wierd thing, on one of my old modded Pelicans it just stopped working for PS2. Works great on XBox and on PC via an XBox to USB adapter. I'm going to get another happs super stick to throw in there and am probably going to put it up for sale soon in case anyone is interested.

Glad to hear you're OK from that accident, that sounds like it was a real bad trip. Hope you can get another car soon and head back to school ASAP. :)

neopelihomobrush.jpg

do i just pick up krylon sprays or what?

I'm kinda siked about trying it, i need to take it apart to check out how i need to go about it. i need buttons!

I hope i dont fuck this up. I dont want it to look as shitty as some of the panels on some conversion cabs ive seen. :oh_no:

Good shit man, i like the blue one. Goes nice with the ps2.

Thanks for the credit, but as you also noted, shaper is really the one that hooked it up with the good info. Still though, it's cool that we all can share info and help each other out or provide inspiration/motivation.

i kinda want to get into beatmania for the simple fact that the controller looks so damn cool.

Wow, fast replies

Paintjob:
I kind of took a shortcut. I read here on the forums that you should strip off the "black plastic" and sand the wood itself then prime and paint; I just gave it three coats of primer :smirk: of course it still felt "bumpy" from the "black plastic" so I just sanded it softly until it was silky smooth. Then I gave it three coats of enamel paint. Of course white picks up grease from sweaty hands after a while, but thats nothing 409 can't handle :) As for the white PS2, I didn't paint that, thats the Gran Turismo 4 Limited Edition White PS2 that CurtWRX stated earlier (thanks Curt  )

ASC:
I got it for $330 + $20 for USPS Priority Shipping & insurance on ebay . He lives like four hours away, so of course I got it the very next day =)

Tidbit:
I was going to have both joysticks with blue buttons/joysticks, but the main reason I even got joysticks in the first place is to play old school airplane games. And we all know Player 1 is RED and Player 2 is BLUE :buttrock:

K hunter - did you really have to quote his entire post? You can get the ASC from Play-Asia.

Man ... what a classic - so many great memories with the good old Raiden Project .... :crying:

It's still my most played Playstation game, even now that I finally broke down and bought a PS2.

I love the fact how everyone on this site mods thier stuff! From unibios chips to supergun casings etc., you guys have the coolest way of getting the things you like... to work the way you like it! And with style no less.

In that spirit, and some downtime met with boredom- I stripped my peli... having no idea wtf was inside or how it worked.

pelicanstripped.jpg

the hardest part for me really was figuring out how to disassemble the joystick.

Messing with the stuff for a while gave me some insight; the happs controls site did as well.

The most difficult part of this will definately be painting it. You said yours was sanded right? I know absolute shit about what materials can/cant be painted, and im tempted to just spray this bitch up! I kinda have some plans involving tape and some krylon- but i also dont want it to look butchered.

Suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks to k hunter, Sharpermc, and Dallas_Five for the inspiration, anything you guys have learned during the process im sure i can benefit from.

EDIT: Searched a few threads and found a SHITLOAD of info, might post the final product when finished... peace

Those arcade sticks are really slick. I love threads like these. Sorry to hear about the car accident.

I'm hoping to do my Pelican pretty soon. I'll probably just do the same blue buttons and stick as you, but I'll probably just keep unit black, so I get away with just painting the top. :D
