Anyone else out there love this game? Personally I find its simplicity refreshing, and I just can't get enough of those uber-cheez tunes. The AI is a little on the light side, IMO, but they always give at least a decent challenge. Anyone out there like this game, or does anyone know any cool tricks in it?

It's quality man, I got it around 3 weeks back. I'm not even a basketball fan yet I find that I play this game more than any other at the moment.

Its Just a Class Game Full Stop.
No other basketball will compare to the Playability this game has for the rest of your living life, and still keeps the Cool Looks.

The soundtrack lets you know what your playing, and stays stuck in your head while you whistle it at work, Fuckin Funny too.

I'm in the market for a STREET HOOP/DUNK DREAMS MVS Cart actually, I miss the game dearly, used to have it on the AES... and I'm a dude who hates sports games but Street Hoop and it's power charged non-Neo Street Hoop '96 on the DATA EAST board {whatever it was called} are the best of the best. Fun, addictive and not having to be ultra realistic nor signing on any big names to make a great game!

Yea, threads like this really do plug the games don't they?

While I hate basketball with a passion, the only basketball game that I actually played and liked for more than 10 minutes was NBA Jam. How does Street Hoops compare?

Similar sort of arcade feel - over the top moves and what not. Probably a little more simplistic, but it has enough different moves and enough variety to keep me comin' back :). Oh, and it's waaaaaaaay cheezier than Jam could ever dream of being .....

Thanks!

BTW, when you say 'cheezier', it makes me wonder if Street Hoops has some kewl street/jive music with the wavy guitars like it came out of the mid 70's or something... :D

I know I am a little late in this thread...

Anyway, if you like Street Hoop, you really need to check out its sequel. Its called Data East Hoops or Dunk Dream 95/96. Looks identical to the neo version but there are many extra moves and you can actually play 4 players if you have some external adapter.

One of the cooler things is that it zooms in when you do a super dunk. I think it has the same rapper, but all new songs. I had an extra copy of it for about a year, and no one bought it till a few months ago on ebay. Very cool game.

I'll certainly be checking it out - thanks for the recommendation.

It is a dedicated jamma game. Called a MLC system. Here is the pic of the one I sold not too long ago.

If you do a google search, I know some guy has screens of it playing. I sold this board because I got the complete kit. The English version is Data East Hoops and it comes in an orange case. I know coinopexpress can get them.

Am I crazy or does the Kick Harness have a port for a IDE cable? I mean it looks like it has cutouts on the top for the bumps (not saying "omg make it a hard drive" I'm just saying that's what it looks like). Is that a normal kick harness connector? BTW, NTM, nice seeing you here :).

Anyhow, anyone with a remote interest in playing action sports games on the Neo needs Street Slam. It's just too good to not be played. I will never sell this game!

It is a regular IDE cable port and it is used for the 3rd and 4th players and 2nd screen. I havent seen the pinouts for it anywhere, but I might be able to figure it out. Would be cool to play with 4 people.

Thanks. I'm here on and off. I am here more lately to see what the outcome of the SSVS fiasco will be.

I use to own this game for the home system. I played it all the time and found it to be a pretty good basketball game.

I have been thinking about picking up the MVS version since I picked up an upright a couple months ago. Street Hoops seems like it would be a great game to have in the cab.

Kinda. The MLC is really 2 pieces that connect together, the bottom part has the jamma connector the top is the game. They can seperate, but I dont know of any MLC game that the game was sold seperately from the main board.

Woot!! DD95 is on eBay for any interested parties. Its Mr. Burger though. I know some of you have had problems with him in the past, but he has always come through for me.

I'd love that. Shame Bill doesn't take PayPal or I'd snap that badboy up. I don't fancy doing money orders and stuff being overseas and all.
Are these rare anyway? I hadn't even heard of the game until this thread. Is it that much different to Street Hoop anyway?

I wouldnt call it rare, but it isnt seen for sale that much. If you are a Street Hoop fan, you will definately like this game. It is quite a bit like the Neo version with new moves an zoom effects.

Check this site for some pics. Middle of page:
