Saw it earlier this afternoon. It covers a LOT of ground and if you aren't extremely interested in the Riddick universe (i.e.- You remember all the tiny snippets of backstory in Pitch Black and you've played the game already) I can imagine a lot of people got confused. Even I was wishing that they would've covered a little more backstory on some of the main side characters. Overall the fight scenes were amazing: the opening Necromonger invasion of Helion Prime and the fight between Riddick and the Crematoria prisoners and the Necromonger soliders were the highlights for me.
Overall I'd give it a 4.5 stars out 5, if only because the final fight scene and the conclusion are pretty lame. Its a totally out of character scene for Riddick. However the movie's art style and atmosphere REALLY reminded me of older 70s/80s sci-fi epics like Dune, Alien (the Necromonger designs are very Giger) and to a small extent Star Wars. I really hope this series continues, the ending totally sets up for more sequels/prequels.
**MINOR SPOILER**
Whoever plays Jack (the girl who posed as a boy from the first movie) in this film is fucking attractive beyond anything.
