i was wandering if anyone knows if the riding hero's in the neo store have the link cables in them? i heard that all riding heroes have these under the plastic tray insert, but i have no idea how true this is.

while we're on the subject, what other games have the link feature?

has anyone actually used this feature?

I had a Thrash Rally that had the Plug-in holes on the spine also ..but i never saw cables for it much less a setup that supported it. I'd be curious to know if anyones ever seen a setup utilizing either of the games.

Good Question/Please post if you get an answer..

Which one..?

Riding Hero { 1 }
Item # 227
Version: English
Category: English AES $35.00 Near mint insert, excellent+ cart, very good manual.

Riding Hero (NOS) { 57 }
Item # 228
Version: English
Category: English AES $38.00 New, never played, still sealed. Top condition. (new old stock)

Riding Hero { 1 }
Item # 675
Version: Japanese
near mint insert, excellent cart & manual
Category: Japanese AES $59.00

From my limited research the Japanese AES version did not come with the link cable in it's case.(read on)

NOS English AES carts should come with a link cable,.but I haven't heard of anyone who has bought one out of the Neo Store(lately) that has mentioned a Cable being in the game or if it was missing.( :help:

(IMO)An English version, if it's missing the cable "if used" then it's incomplete...(though this is subject to change as new info is provided.)

When someone buys a English Version Riding Hero NOS and looks to see if it has the cable, I would wish that they post if it was missing the cable.

That may change things to the point that it was only put in certain runs of the cart.
(and more info would be at hand)
Thus meaning it could be in the Japanese version too.

It seems NO-ONE on this site has ever bought a NEW/NOS Japanese Riding Hero AES version since I get no answers to my question if their game has the cable.

The used English AES Riding Hero I bought off Ebay had the cable.

(In Glossary/info I got changed)

Link-Up Feature

Several of the early Neo Geo AES releases featured a socket on top of the home cartridge that allowed two home systems with the same cartridge to be linked together for up to 4-player action. For a long time there was a belief that no such cables were made, however a number were created in included beneath the trays of at least some link-up games (Riding Hero is the confirmed game, see picture..

linkup.jpg

The three games were League Bowling, Riding Hero, and Thrash Rally. For an extended discussion about the Link-Up Feature, please see ..

this thread..

...............

I would figure the DIE HARD collectors would like to know this info.
Games you have in your collection may not be as "Complete" as you think they are..

True....thank you..

I know that and I actually have a couple of them...
But,that's not the issue/answer for some collectors....it's a quick answer to be able to play the link games if your missing the cable as I mentioned about this supplemint cable info time and time again..

But,..
If "I" buy this game NOS or used I'd expect it to contain the Cable.
If it's a US copy..

Otherwise without more info I'd consider it to be incomplete...

Just reading some info in my old thread..

Here's two posts about NOS..

The_Chosen_One

I would have to say that is incorrect. I bought a NOS sealed home cart of Riding Hero and it had that link cable. So it had to be put in there before they sealed it, hence a link cable was made. Never had a chance to link it up though.

Freelancer

The NOS copy of Riding Hero I bought from the Neostore last month had the link cable included. I made a post about my exciting find as well.

I could tell right away that my Riding Hero had the cable even before I unsealed it because the case was heavier and the case seemed a bit expanded at the ends.

...

From those two posts I believe that NOS Riding Hero games should come with the cable.
I'm pretty sure they both bought US copies..

I would personally ask though..before I bought one.

I would still ask before I buy....depends in what your buying..

................................................................

Sure I've done the link..check my thread that's linked in the Glossary page.
(some of it's rather important/say if you were to Link AES to MVS)
Plus within that thread there are other threads containing info on it.

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86118&page=1&pp=25

Now that this is brought up again..tomorrow I'm going to link up two "MVS" League Bowlings between the Big Red and Neo Gold machine.. :)

In general if I bought a cart that was supposed to have this cable and it was missing I'd be pretty pissed off..and I'm sending it back..

If I was told the game was complete...or if it was written/listed as complete..

EDIT: Sure I would understand if the info wasn't known at the time, but now that it is this should be an issue.
This info should be listed when selling this game..

I figure this might stir up some old stuff..
How freaken hard is it to know about what your selling..

What kind of cable is it? I don't have the original cable, so I'd be interested in buying something from Radio Shack...

Just to clear it up, the NOS one I bought was English and had the cable. As Freelancer said it was pretty obvious there was something in there as it was wrapped around the plastic inner tray making it a little thicker. I'm sure if you asked Shawn he could tell you if his NOS are like that.
