Hi guys i bought Rage Of the Dragons for MVS and its now comming my way but I've heard that 2 slots boards have problems with ROTD it wont work on it. Is that true if so how can you solve that problem without buying a 3,4,5 or 6 slots board???? Please let me know.

2 slot MVS boards are usually fine with ROTD.

It's the older 1 slot boards (MV-1 and MV-1F) that are prone to this reset glitch.

Since I don't own a 2 slot, I can't confirm. But, last year when the ROTD kits dropped in price, I and many others bought them and tested them. From what I recall, only the MV-1 and MV-1F (I own an MV-1F and I had the problem) boards had the reset issues. The unibios did not seem to have much of an impact on the reliability of the gameplay.

There didn't seem to be any problems from users who used the multslot boards and the newer 1 slots (MV-1C, MV-1FZ, etc).

Consider yourself lucky then. You're definitely in the minority when it comes to MV-1F owners who can play ROTD without modification.

Which do you want, the MVS board or ROTD cart serial?

RevQuixo also mentioned something about his MV-1F playing ROTD flawlessly as well, but by and large, I'd estimate some 95% of MV-1F boards to have issues with ROTD.

When you do the ROTD fix, you dont need wires, all you do is break a few jumpers, and bridge a small gap between others.

Oh and I have a MV-1, it doesnt work very well most of the time. Sometimes I can play it awhile, this is after teh fix, before it NO GAME AT ALL.

My MV-1F is #397771

My ROTD was sold when I found it wouldn't work with my setup.

My previous ROTD had almost no problems on my MV1-FZ with Uni 1.0.

When I upgraded to 1.3, the shit hit the fan until I did the fix....

never had a problem on MV1-C pre- fix... Had very few problems on MV-1 with 1.0.

havent' tested my new unfixxed ROTD on any of my 2 slots (I have both the old and new versions.).

The only fix that worked for me was:

1. Remove R1 resistor.
2. Remove R6 resistor (221 ohm).
3. Take resistor from R6 (221 ohm) and put it into R3

I swear to god that is the best fix.

Hey, I just got my RotD kit today and someone in chat told me that it has troubles playing on a homesystem w/ a phantom-1. Is this true? I have an unmodded JPN system. My phantom-1 hasn't come yet though my part of the trade was delivered about 4PM today. I was just wondering because I'll feel sad if I can't play RotD. :help:

ROTD reset even before the splash screen had finished on my MV1-FZ.

I did the solder fix and it would only reset once every few hours. I installed unibios v1.2 and it resets a little more often then before. Still playable though.

hmmm, I did the MOD and have played extended periods of time with zero resets. I can usually tell if it will give me problems, if there is some flicker on the character select screen, I'll turn it off pull the cart out and put it back in and try again...if I get no flicker its cool. [?]

It works fine on my 2 slot and with the phantom. With the pantom just don't let time run out to continue if you have a debug bios and set to MVS or you will get the red SNK screen.

Hehe funny you mention that as my original (T) revision MV-1F had the usual resetting issue but later I ended up with a (S) revision of the MV-1F and its no problem at all. It would seem theres no clear cut rules with this bug. I have heard of some multi slot boards having this problem too, but again most are okay so its a bit of a hazy one!!

Trust me... three and five slot neo-geo motherboards have never had problems with rage of the dragon carts!

Ditto, but then again I only played three or four matches (getting my butt handed to me) and I saw no problems with resets. The cart is serial #2936.

Norton, a bit off topic, but could you explain how old and new versions can be differenciated ?
I myself own 2 two-slot and noticed quite some differences

one is :
labelled MV2F
most chips were produced in 91-92 from what I can read on markings
has gold JAMMA connector
serial #310706 written in black at <B1> (close to the mem card reader)
SFIX (at <H10-11>) and SM1 (at <C5>) seem to be mask roms, by NEC
Cart slot connectors are split in two, which seems fragile to me

the other looks like this :
labelled MV2FS
most chips were produced from 93-96, according to the markings on the chips
has silver JAMMA connector
serial #047223 written in blue at <B1> too
SFIX and SM1 are EPROMS with silver labels and handwriting on them.
Cart slot connectors are not split in two on the whole length, hence the look more robust

Now if I consider dates on chips, I suppose MV2F is the granny, but then how come its serial is higher than the one of the MV2FS ? Could it be serials were not worldwide but by region and that one of these was US and the other one Euro ?
(BTW both play in English by default, but I installed Unibios on MV2FS.)

Is Eprom's presence there something common ? Soldering for these is factory perfect ...

My 1 slot mother board is actually a MV1FS which is not listed on hardmvs.com. They list the MV1F and the MV1FZ. Curious as to what the S is for. Looking at the SNK chips it looks like they were manufactured in the first half of 93.

The connector board is a SLOT1F which I am guessing was used on all the MV1F boards? Any additional info you can provide would be great.

Is the MV-1C board that the Neo store sells, known to have any problems with any MVS games?
