What are the specifications for the AES power supply?

I am asking because my power supply stopped fworking for no reason, and I want to get a generic one.

I want to know about the power supplies, not about different region's voltages.

US units use 5 Volts, 3 Amps.

JPN units use 10/11 Volts & 750ma/1.0 Amps

It's not a matter of region but of serial number. You can have two Japanese or US systems that run with two different power supplies. Read the info on the bottom of the system:

pro-pow = 5v/3A
pro-pow2 = 5v/3A
pro-powE = 9v/1.2A
pro-pow3 = 10V/1A (or 11v/0.7A)

Thank you for your input.

Well, I have a problem, I recently bought another Neo-Geo AES, (I believe it is US ver.) and it doesn't want to turn on.

I try with a power supply that has a 9v, 350mA output, and I get a static, scrambled image with no sound. And when I try with a 12v, 1000mA, it does not even turn on (at least get no graphic/sound output). This system worked perfectly a couple of days ago... what may have happened?

Any suggestions?

you should only use voltage that is marked on the machine

12V seem abit high... hope is not bad news...... "blown"

It worked fine with a 12v power supply for several weeks....

maybe you have blown a fuse... you ll have to open it and check with a ohm-meter the protection fuse. If it s blown (infinite resistance) then either put a new one or do a strap (but your system will then be verry vulnerable).

I ve never opened a neo though... dunno where it s located you ll have to search a little ^^

Thakn you for your concern, BarfHappy.

Still, when I use the 9v, 350mA power supply, it DOES turn on... but I get that weird scrambled static image.

a.. yeah i skipped this part (it s 5:20am now)... well sorry i m not competent then... i never had any problem when i had my home system :/

i bet you tried the classic stuff... cleaning etc.

let it rest a bit... dunno... sometimes it works for me (time for the capacitors to unload).

ah i missed this part... your 9v supply is not powerful enough to power up the aes

350ma... i dont think its enough... may be thats why the sound

the "ma" defines how powerful the power supply is...

the aes needs at least 850ma i think... because the standard snk adaptor is 850ma

may be your 12v adaptor is fecked... but i'm only guessing about everything...

Good Luck

So it needs to be exactly 850mA?

The power supply I used before was only 750mA, and worked flawlessly (now works not), and I have other one that is 12v, 1000mA, and the AES still doesn't want to turn on.

no... it does not need to be exactly 850

as long as it is enough... i dont know how many amps the neo takes

a 850ma is used incase it needs it... thats why a lower one will work

you can use any MA as long as the voltage match!

ma defines how much power it can supply... high ma it can supply more than the neo needs

understand what i mean?

but still...just a guess

I tried with 9v, 1000mA and no luck.

And with 9v, 350mA it at least got on!

the polarity needs to right as well

i dont know how to explain this one

basically .... 2 different kind... out part=+ inner part=-

or the other way round

check the symbol... match it with the aes

symbol looks like a circle one wrap round a smaller one... and shows + and -

I tried 4.5v, 6v, 9v, 12v (all 1000mA) with different polarities and only got "result" with 12v and one polarity, I turned the system on and the screen just flickered for a second. That's all.

Help? Anyone?

erm...what's wrong with my post? If you read it you should know what power supply to use instead of trying randomly...

Sorry, I didn't see your post. Well, seems I need Pro-Pow-E (9v/1.2A)

Thank you very much, will try to look for that as soon as possible.
