I was dead set on getting a 20 inch Wega but it has been posted that the Toshiba has a really great 20 inch TV that rivals the Wega. Question one, does it have different picture modes that can be adjusted? I plan on using it with my Nova but that outputs a really bright picture but I am going to hook up other consoles as well and it would be nice to change the picture settings with a button instead of manually changing the brightness, contrast, etc.

I am also looking for opinions on how the Neo looks on it (cart,CD, MVS)

Sinse this is my 100th post I would just like to say that I have met many people who's opinions I value and have made some friends here as well. And it is nice to come to a message board that has mostly adult opinions that don't act like children and and start system wars (PS2 sucks!!, DC sucks!! etc.) and so forth. Thanks guys

thanks for your kind words shin guile X.
to answer your question about the toshiba.
yes, there are multiple picture settings.
the picture will look as good as the vega if not betterwhen running almost any thing on it. the reason for this is that they both use the same tube. go with the toshiba. thats what i am doing. later.

Thanks again ORPHEUS. I finally got to check out both TV's at the store and you are 100 percent right! I bought the Toshiba which had a clearer picture than the Wega.

I have this model and it is a real eye-pleaser! Shortly after setting it up I just had to try practically every NEO*GEO title in my possession from 3 Count Bout to World Heroes 2 Jet. Mark of the Wolves…. Jaw dropping! Every game looked better. My previous displays were the GX-TV, RCA Component Monitor, and JVC TV. The Toshiba puts them both all shame.

Other gaming systems look awesome too. The DC with SVIDEO really shines. The same goes for the PS2 and other systems. DVD quality is incredible. There are multiple video input sources. And unlike the Sony WEVA, the Toshiba has SVIDEO! There is also a convenient headphone jack. The sound coming from the system is stereo and it sounds quite good. There are bass and treble controls as well.

I cannot comment on the MVS or NEO*GEO CD …. I do not have a NEO*GEO CD nor do I have an MVS setup capable of playing games on a TV. My MVS setup is strictly cabinet for now ---- until the AES 2 becomes available.

I do not believe that there are multiple video configuration settings for contrast, color, etc. You can set it to whatever you want and it is saved. There is a reset but that will return it to the factory settings.

I was all set to buy a Sony WEGA until I found this great TV. The Toshiba is around $30 less, had more features (including SVIDEO) and looks better.

Check out Toshiba’s site for the details: http://www.toshiba.com/tacp/tv/20AF41.html

Thanks Tiptonium. I bought the Toshiba but (this might sound wierd to some people) but I am not using it yet. My birthday is July 2 so I am saving it intil then, just so I can have something to look forward to. I was so close on getting a candy cab but something came up and I had to use half of the money I had saved up so I decided to get a 20 inch tv. And while I was comparing both the Wega and the Toshiba I forgot to check to see if they had different picture modes. I need that because the Nova puts out a brighter picture than consoles. I figured that it would though, even my 25 inch Samsung from 92 has three pic modes. Anyway thanks for the help.

ORPHEUS says it has multiple picture modes, Tiptonium says it doesn't. Hmm. I really hope it does, it is going to be a bitch to manually change the picture setting when I want to play the Nova then play Saturn or Snes. Anyone else with the TV have anything to add?

If there are indeed multiple picture modes I sure would like someone to enlighten me on the subject. There are multiple video connectors that can be selected but they all seem to use the same picture setting.

HAH one thing i forget SHIN GUILE. I was checking those two tv's out again at work when i saw them side by side and remembered this post and i realized that the VEGA doesnt even have an S video imput, now THAT is laughable. as far as the multiple picture modes, I MAY be wrong, but i will check it out when i am at work today. also, if you have A neo CD it will look AWSOME on that tv
because the S-video out on the neo cd is of top quality since it is factory installed unlike A moded home cart system which just can not touch the video quality of the cd system.

Thanks guys. One of Sony's Wega models does have s-video tough I think it is the Sony KV-20FV12. I do have a Neo CDZ actually. The CDZ looks fantastic on my regular TV which is a flat screen rear projector. ORPHEUS, I really appreciate you taking time from work to find out but I don't want to take your time like that. Just don't go out of your way to find out. I will find out soon enough but I thank you for trying to find out.
