Here it is, now available on neogeokult:

MAGICIAN LORD WALKTHROUGH

Hope this will help people thinking the game is too difficult! :)

Translation needed, if someone wants to give contribution...

ohh, that's one way to finish the game but I wouldn't call it complete.

For example, stage 2; the only way to complete it without a timeout is go to the top of the first section and get the raijin, with it you can jump higher, transverse the path inside the secondary door and get the bonuses. Also there are secret entrances at the falling area that can be explored as well.

Yeah, those were obviously missing, so perhaps this is more of a 'critical path' playthrough? Either way its a nice guide and its cool to see some more love for this game. Memories!

Yes, i tell in the extro that i'll let the player search himself for hidden paths ;) the guide just tells how to clear the game the easier way... and give orbs and power up locations too ;)

That's more or less a Raijin walkthrough for the second half. If you don't have that form you can't use those tactics (i.e. continue off memory card save).

The floating platforms in stage 7 with eyeballs shooting at you is probably one of the toughest parts without Raijin form. It is, however, possible to jump from the fourth platform and hold left on the joystick to reach the tower instead of having to hop across all of them while evading the shots.

This game is so hard. I got it as a bare cart with my Neo Geo, and used it as a doorstop for a while. Eventually I got the hang of it, but it took a while!

Yes, making the way through the game with the Raijin is the easier way to clear it, that's why. Even though, i added for each guardian and each boss the technique if the player have the ELTA FORM, because i know pretty well how it's hard to keep a special form of warrior all through the game!! :lolz:

The farthest I could get in the past was stage 6 w/o the bois help. But after using just the max power up in the bios. I got to where I could walkthrough the game pretty easy. I now have been able to beat it w/o any cheats but it is very, very challenging and irritating at the same time. I really don't know if I want to do it anymore. Thanks for posting the guide I'm gonna try some new stuff out now :)

I'm stuck on the part where you have to do a boss-run near the end. I can't get past the part with the two female assassins with the magician guy at the edge of the screen.

must early neo-geo games is in hard mode and i dont think anyone ever finish it in 1 coin but you need time to learn how to play it .magician lord is easy but after stage 5 the difficult is begin

That depends on the title. I find World Heroes to be very easy on the default mvs setting, which is mainly due to the overall slow pace of the game.

I find Magician Lord very hard since stage 3 (wasn't it the castle stage??), come on people, what about that immortal creature that literally annihilates you if you take too much time to complete a stage???

Of course the AES home revision with the 6-life-bar is easier, but....it's still crazy, and that's maybe a flaw for the game. Anyways I love it, specially the music of the second and last stage, and also it's bloody and dark concept.

stage 3 is not the castle (stage 4) stage 3 is the whale belly .you must learn what to do in every second that your enemy show up and dont forget about the jump some of them are strong and you must attack and jump away to rapid it

but adk world heroes is not from the early neo -geo lineup games . i mean 90/91 like magician lord -nam 75-ninja combat super spy -ghost fighter &sengoku i think snk made it so hard to keep us played far as possible not to conquer it in 2 month

Yeah snkino!!!

Sengoku was another very hard one...

Maybe all the SNK games are hard I think...except Metal Slug I and II ..:lolz: those are more of a "hard to get" than "hard to beat" :glee:

World Heroes was released in 1992. It was made by ADK just like Magician Lord.

I finally beat Magician Lord a couple weeks ago after owning it for about 15 years! The platforms on level 7 and the bosses on level 8 took me a bunch of tries to finish. The stiff controls and annoying flying enemies remind me a lot of the first Castlevania (also a difficult game I never finished). Since I didn't have a memory card, I had to pause for breaks and leave the game on a couple of days. Decided to order a generic SRAM card last week to save progress so I can turn the game off when I get frustrated. If only I could save NES games on it.

Your web is wonderful!! Great work and congrats Blondin.

Thanks a lot!

With some training it's possible to clear Magician Lord with one single life. And then, making some good score is great:
