Metal Slug X problem with Phantom-1

Hi, I went to my local MVS dealer and bought a Metal Slug X today. The game worked fine on his machine and when I took it home and put it in my Phantom-1 - nothing but lines. The game is not dirty and it is not a bootleg either. It is an official cart but won't work with my Phantom-1. It is strange because all my other games work with it and it is the latest revision of the Phantom-1. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Thanks for your time.

I remember Jennety had the same trouble with his Metal Slug X in a Phantom-1.

I bought a Metal Slug X from MD games last year and it worked perfect in my Phantom-1 (the new blue version).

I wonder why some work and some dont? The MSX I had was a Japanese version...with green transparent case 100% original, not sure if any of this info makes a difference.

My Metal Slug X is the US version and comes in a blue transparent case. It uses Toshiba chips so I know it is not a bootleg. It also has the rainbow colred cartridge sticker with SNK serial numbers. I looked at the boards and everything checks out. It worked fine on the guys machine but won't work in my Phantom 1. I hear that some people are having the same problem. My Phantom 1 is the newest version - the blue one.

The problem comes to what version is your AES. If you have a japanese AES you will not have any problem to play your metal slug x with a phantom 1.

Not true. I had the same problem in my Japanese system.

I've only got Jap systems. Never got MSX working on any of em. Tried two different carts as well.

Ended up just buying the HGH cart

When I had MSX MVS I used it in my US Neo System and it worked perfect.

Must be something else....

It not working probably has something to do with the protection the game uses. It seems quite strange that games with protection built into the high 0x2fffe0 to 0x2fffff region have more problems running on some systems than other games. Maybe its something to do with the timing of it.

Hi folks,
i finally made the experience that MS X does not work with the !Phantom1! on NEO GEO AES with
mainboard revision NEO-AES3-6.
I have 2 consoles with that mainboard PCB that
do not work.
The same combination of !Phantom1! with that MS X
works perfectly on a board revision NEO-AES-5 and
even on my very old NEO-AES3-3 that has very bad contacts.

Maybe some of you could verify what I say.

Just got Metal Slug X.

It is the blue US version.

I used it with my blue phantom 1 and a Japanese home cart system AES 3-4 motherboard version.

It works flawlessly.
