The original artwork is by axialpoint. I did the
design work, if you could call it, that to put together some examples of what I was looking for. I used my "mad skills" in MS paint to make the following mock ups.
Control Panel design mock up
Marquee design mock up
I have some other mock ups for the side art, but they are laughably bad. You can see from the mock ups that he did a great job of capturing what I was going for. The credit really goes to Sean for taking took my hideous mock ups and turned them in to something that looks professional to the point of appearing O.E.M.
Luckily for me, Sean had already done reproduction Blast City side art and Astro/Blast/Universal control panel work. He had also done some previous Ikaruga artwork for himself - the moves list is untouched from when he did it for himself so no additional work was necessary for that. I guess a lot of the ground work had been done by him already already - which is why the project was able to be completed for such a reasonable price. Sean is a really reasonable guy, I am very fortunate to have worked with him on this project.
Incredibly, the final printed product was the first draft I received from Sean with no changes made to it!
The upper and lower side art and control panel are stickers. The marquee is printed on back-lit film so that it can be illuminated the way a marquee should be.
