Went to see Girl Talk at USM last night

Holy fuck, talk about uncut energy in its purest form. It was total madness. He did the show outside on a stage and it was chilly out that night however the show was so fuckin hyped he had to take his shirt off cuz he was sweating so much from all the madness going on.

I'll gladly pay my money to see him again.

p.s. I've seen crowd surfing but never crowd catapulting, jeez. That was a crazy night.

Girl Talk is this dude who basically splices songs together. He's not a DJ, he doesn't mix it. He takes beats and vocals from various songs of varying genres(regardless of if they match or not) and puts them together and makes these crazy long ass songs.

Despite these songs being a mix of everything they sound great. He had the crowd going totally bananas. Just go on youtube and type in "girl talk" and listen to a song of his.

Girl Talk is totally trendy hipster shit in St. Louis right now, it's not even funny. But, actually, the hipsters don't affect the fact that what he does is pretty cool. He's certainly not the only one who does it.

If you dig the genre, you should also check out:

The Hood Internet
Super Mash Bros.
Torpedoh
Z-Trip

Also, some of the older GT stuff is pretty cool.Especially all the data distortion stuff he did on Secret Diary and Unstoppable.

This stuff is pure crack for the ADD video game generation.

No need for the Youtube. All mashup artists release their albums for free so you can just download them from their respective websites.

Listening to The Hood Internet: The Mixtape Volume Four right now. Killer stuff.

I live here in H-burg and didn't hear anything about it. Been out of the loop for local shows lately.

Check out The Thirsty Hippo in the downtown area. A lot of great unknown of bands play there. I really don't listen to Reggae or Latin group music, but saw two really good groups there. Some really damn good blues bands, hip hop (the type with good music in it, not that southern gangsta shit) and artistic type rock bands play as well. The owner, Brad has good taste in music.

Also, there is the Bottling Co. in downtown. It is kinda like a House of Blues New Orleans setup. Some good bands like Blue Mountain will play at times. Also, some very shitty has-been-mainstream bands play there as well, such as: Cold, 10 Years and Taproot .

Girl Talk is fun as hell.

Seen him at Bonnaroo and Rothbury.

The key with Girl Talk is that the show is more fun the huger the crowd.

I had been thinking of turning the MSTRKRFT thread into a general "I went to this electronica show and it was fucking sweet" thread.

I saw Ana Sia aka. Queen Slay-ah, dubstep royalty in my hometown on friday (video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_ItaM3um58 I wish the sound could do the show justice), then went and caught Phish in Cincinnati. Best Phish show I've seen by a mile. All around a good weekend.

I had to suffer through this clown's show at Coachella this past Spring.

It was like a Sadie Hawkins dance on acid. Teenage hipsters everywhere.

I was there specifically for Ghostland and Presets, so I basically had to weather that shitstorm or lose my place against the front rail.

There as in 'there riding the rail' or there as in 'there at Coachella period'?

Its not the amount of hipsters that bothers me its the angst and intentional awkwardness of hipsters that bothers me.

All their endless genres of shit indie music too.

Somehow Dan I don't think you were ever a hipster.

At the rail. Those two acts were a big draw for me to go to Coachella, but I was there for a multitude of other acts as well.

You have to realize that a majority of the acts/bands I enjoy do not come anywhere near Phoenix, Arizona save for large festivals like Coachella.
