If not the best game of all time, it's the best on the SNES, hands down.

It's got everything you need, great story, great fights, incredible gameplay and so many possiblities for yourself.

You can do the 100% run, the over 100% runs, the minimal runs, speed runs... etc.

There is just a ridiculous amount of stuff to do.. there's no way you'll find something to *not* like.. except maybe the second half of maridia, it still drive me nuts to this day.

I've been playing the shit out of it for almost 15 years now and I'm still blown away.. I still find new ways to do things.

One amazing thing you'll never appreciate now is hearing Samus talk in the intro.. it blew me away when I first heard it... now it has no impact.

One of the few titles I played upon it's release and in it's entirety.
Yes. Definitely ranks in the top 5 best titles available for SNES imo.

It's a great game. Very well rounded and addictive. If you are willing to really commit a chunk of time to the story and gameplay I doubt you'd find a more rewarding experience on the SNES. You'll be able to tell whether you'll really enjoy it within 15 minutes or so....many people can't play those types of games now...they're too technically inferior in one aspect and far too in depth in another.

I'd say it's certainly one of the top 5 SNES games.

...That wasn't Samus. Unless Samus happens to sound like a very gay male.

For shame! That is one of those games I can play when life just sucks and everything seems to get better. Definitely takes me back every time.

Go play it. It's so smooth and awesome. No hesitation to give it a perfect 10.

Super Metroid is one of my all-time favorites. Play the game. There is no game on the SNES that I like more than SM.

You won't like it because you'll say something like "I prefer arcade action games" or something.

Just play it...its too cheap to ignore.

Like many have said, it really is a great game. It really uses the SNES to the max and nearly everything about the game is flawless. The plot is good, the controls are awesome, the world is massive...I could go on and on.

I have a hard time saying "XXXXX is the best game ever made!!!" because like other forms or media, there's so many flavors, you really can't say one is the best.

Hands down, it is a masterpiece and one of the best to be found on the SNES...you owe it to yourself to play it...too bad you didn't in 1994, it would have had more impact.

WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM??!!!!

but seriously, you need to beat this game

still one of the best ever, right up there with link to the past, another SNES classic

came out a bit late into the SNES's life cycle, but this one didn't feel dated at all

I had a good time with metroid on the nes. When Super Metroid came out I did not get it right away because I thought it was just going to be a lame remake. A friend of mine picked it up and then when he beat it I got it in a trade.
Honestly I remember being shocked at how good a game it was. They did a good job of building a story line and revamping the original metroid idea. Over all I thought it was an excelent game. Also it is the last metroid game I liked. Never cared for the ones that came after.

In my opinion it is one of the best SNES titles. I don't know if I could go back now and sit through it though and am not sure I would want to try. I seem to remember it had some pretty good audio as well.

only some of the best and most original music EVAR, really outstanding from start to finish - you don't hear this kind of effort put into soundtracks anymore
