icon32.gif Super Neo Type II Cabinet Restoration Progress

Well, since I am bored....I'm gonna put some pics up of the progress I have made so far...I will try to update it once and a while. Any specs on the pics is probably dust since the garage is hella dusty lol.

Here is the control panel. I didn't really do much with it. I just sanded it down and spray painted it again and I think it looks pretty good. Oh I also replaced the joysticks and buttons because the others were pretty worn down.

This marquee is really starting to irritate me as it never wants to corporate...there are going to be some imperfections in it, but after I've sanded it down and painted it for the umpteeth number of times, I've pretty much given up...looks nice if you don't inspect it up close lol.

For the front portion, I have repainted the bezel and it turned out pretty well except some very deep scratches that won't come out no matter what...I also repainted the plastic part that holds the bezel and it turned out pretty nice.

Ok here comes the horrible part. I am going to need to bump some of the small dents on the side out. (I've already started) and completely sand down the sides and repaint them as those black marks are not marks from other machines or bumps, but they are the paint underneath the white paint...so that all has to be sanded down. I have the reproduction side-art on order and it should look pretty good.

Finally the LCD that took so much time. I found parts for it and rebuilt it so it works.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed.

Yea, it plays whatever is on the main screen or you can hook it up to outside sources. The camera is for competitions or something I suppose. It shows you on the other machine's lcd screen, but you need 2 cabinets for it to work and some sort of kit.

awesome thread. Can't wait to see the progress. I'm at a stand still with my 2 slot big red because of money and it was way too hot to work in the garage during the summer, but now that its cooling off I might resume the restoration.

I just got my LCD working on my Type II. Do you have only the monitor or do you have that and the board with all the yellow switches? I'm trying to figure out what they do. So far, one kills the picture and the rest seem to do nothing.

Yea I have that board basically there are 3 settings, 1 is play what is on the display, 2 is the camera, 3 is from the video input...and well 4, switch between them. Can't use the camera since you need a kit that connects the 2 cabinets together heh

Just a little update:

All that's left is to paint the back and one side then apply the side art on and I should be done!

Well there are some things in the sides that just don't come out, but I cleaned most of the crap off of it and spray painted it. I should be finished with it tomorrow...I will give pictures of the sides then
