Atomiswave SD with Quad-sync monitor, MVS Problems

Hello.

I have tried to get help on a local forum but it seems that i can't get any further.

Short description on my problem.

I recently bought a Atomiswave with a quad sync monitor and a Wei-Ya chassi.

Monitor is a Philips/LG "M68QDY259X 02"

Monitor Chassi is a Wei-Ya 2929 "Main pcb rev6"
And the small pcb with the VGA and where the jamma gets signals from "2129 HV"

I can play Espgaluda pcb without any problems with good stable geometry and picture.
The Monitor detects the signal as 15 khz H, 59.1 khz V through OSD (Might be the other way around)

But when i connect my MVS-1FZ with a unibios i only get sound and control's.
The monitor clicks and try to sync to the signal but shuts of and repeats the click and sync process until i shut the cabinet off.

I have tried with a working 2-slot also with the same problems.

I have tried to bridge the H and V sync on the 2129 HV pcb to the jamma connector without any noticeable difference, only that the screen is not trying to sync anymore and is completely off.

Im new to this and don't have the experience in troubleshooting arcade systems so any help would be appreciated.

Apparently there are a few that have had problems with atomiswave SD and neo-geo before? or so I've heard.

Strange, the 'normal' monitor in the AWSD is usually a wei-ya M3129 chassis / LG or samsung tube.

Use a 500ohm pot inline with the sync from the MVS board to the cab. Sometimes the sync signal is too strong for certain monitors.

Now i only have to find a 500ohm resistor somewhere.

you ment to put a regular resistor on the signal cable, correct?

Pot, not resistor. It needs to be variable unless you want to keep swapping resistors with different values until it works.

And the pot would be between the sync from the MVS board and the monitor cable or how ever your setup is.

Yes that is probably correct, but the previous owner changed it to the one i have now.

Ok i think i have found a nice thumbscrew version.

There are alot of different versions, is it better to pick a 1k ohm version to have a bigger span?

Im thinking that the way they work is that they start out on 0 ohm and then go up the their maximum value of 500 ohm or 1k.

if im wrong about this please correct me :-D

Bigger isn't always better. You will have more coverage because of it's range but you won't have precise adjustments. It's easier to fine tune a small pot than a big one.

As for the output, it depends on the way you wire it. the middle pin is the input and the output can be either one of the other two. Depending on which one you choose you just turn the pot the other way 0ohm-->500ohm or 500ohm-->0ohm.

I think i will run a new wire to a swith so i can choose a straight cable or the one with the pot on.
I don't know how my Espgaluda will handles the 500 ohm on the sync cable?

Either way i hope this will resolve it, i don't want to upscale the signal to VGA just for this.

Tried with a 470 ohm resistor without any difference, will buy a 500 ohm pot on monday and have a new go at it.

you could try a 5k resistor from vertical sync to video ground

Should i connect the 5k resistor on the Jamma Harness or on the video input on the chassi?

Firstly i have to get a 5k resistor from the shop on monday.

Damn this problem and the horse it rode in on.

this is a very common problem with snk and monitors,the same happens on hantarex polo
i would mount the resistor on the small vga interface pcb near the psu

Ok.

I hope you are right, i have tried alot of different things but not the resistor to video ground.

I only have a 470 ohms resistor that i tried connecting but it did not work.

On my Video inn right above VGA connector on the pcb, the Vertical sync cable is cut and not in use.

Only "H" sync and "E" (Ground) connects to the jamma connector.

I have tried to wire the V and H together but then the monitor just go completely black and it stops the autosync.

Sure here are a picture of the pcb.

Its the Connector marked "V2" and you can see a little cable thats cut off at the bottom of the molex connector.
The cables are connected in the following order.

Red
Green
Blue
Ground "E"
H
V (Cable cut)

interesting,do you still have the original interface card fitted in the base of the cab?

If you are referring to the card where the vga cable usually sits then no, its not there anymore.

The cab is according to the seller full Jamma and JVS capable.
When i got the cab there was a Namco system 246 in there and that was working 100%

And like i wrote before Espgaluda works without any problems through the jamma.

ok so the jamma wires up to plug V2?
if so thats where you will need to link the v+h sync

It's working now ^^

Did a link with V+H as i had before but this time i also linked a 470 ohm resistor from "P" to "14" on the Jamma harness and viola!!!

Good god i could not believed that i got it running

Thanks a million for your help, without the help on the sync to ground i would still have a not functioning cab.
