SF20 Art Of Street Fighter 20th Anniversary Book

Just giving a heads up for any fans of video game art that this book is out:

http://www.animebooks.com/stfisfartofs.html

Picked up my copy last night and I gotta say it's pretty tight. Lots of great art, and many works of art I've never seen before, and I've bought most of the SF and SNK related 'mooks' that have come out over the years. I'd say I like this book more than 'Eternal Champion', all things considered.

One of the coolest things is that the artists comment on their artwork in a retrospective fashion and give us a bit of insight into the creation process, and little interview sections explain how they got their jobs at Capcom and other little tidbits about their accomplishments.

The pages are high quality and good stock and the colors and reproduction values are fantastic. It's a great coffeetable style book.

The only caveats I'd suggest are that it may feel redundant, and pricey at $40, if you already own a bunch of previous Capcom/SF art books, although if you're a big enough fan you may still enjoy all the new pieces and creator input. Also, while there *IS* artwork from the various 'vs.' games they created, none of the SNK characters appear unless they just happen to be in the same image with their Capcom counterparts. And there is absolutely NO Marvel character art in the book. But the Tatsunoko section has some cool CvT artwork in it. Also, because there are so many games covered in the 20 year history of Street Fighter, some of the art is a little small on the page.

But overall, it's worth the price if you're in to this sort of thing or would like to GET into this sort of thing and want to start your video game art collection somewhere.

No problem!

And at that price, that's $1.30 per year of SF goodness. Well worth the cost of admission

Oh, and, uhhhh, yeah! Cool looking art book. I have a few other random art books, so I'm thinking about picking this one up.
