I have an MV1 on the way to me which sometimes has crackles on the sound...any ideas of fix

Some ideas i have had
1) Clean cart slot
2) Bad capacitors (read this somewhere)
3) something else??

Also if it needs fixing any UK contacts?? else its off to USA for fix if not a simple job

...hmmm...forgot the exact mv1 model right now...ill edit this later when I find the paperwork
Its an MV1a
Picked up nice and cheap to play with...still after a 2 slot for day to day use

Could be as simple as a dirty/scratchy volume pot, try cleaning with contact cleaner.

Good to see another Welsh member on board :) (originally from Felinfoel, Llanelli)

Crackles sounds like dirty slot or the upright board isn't seated well.

Check for scratched or gouged traces too.

What you are looking at is most likely a bad data trace from the Sound ROMs.

That is well said. Unfortunately I am not a fluent speaker :(
Hwyl fawr could be used as an alternative in the same context. It is different in the north compared to the south as you would know.

OK
Unit turned up...looks clean and good nick (ok pic makes it look a bit more scabby I notice)

However some solder looks a bit iffy ... i think its a capacitor near r73+r78 and c9 (flagged on top as ac5??) circled with arrow at top of pic

also some tracks underneath look a bit coppery as if ink/cover rubbed off... see pic lower highlight

Thought he just did unibios...so will drop him a line. That is assuming its not just a simple job like resolder that bad pin. But prob contact him re unibios anyway...
