Hey guys! Long time lurker first time poster. I remember watching a video on YouTube a while back that showed footage of a rare version of Final Fight that let you play as some of the baddies, and a host of other strange things. Well, as luck would have it, I recently found the board. I've done my research and I know a lot of people here still want some more info on the game, so I broke out my digital camera and decided to record the game from start to finish. There's 5 videos, all are about ten minutes a piece except for the last one, so I tried to make the videos mildly entertaining :P

I tried to cover everything about it that I could, but I'm sure I left some things out. If you have any questions about the game or want me to take another video or two, let me know and I'll be happy to take them. :)

Enjoy! (and thanks for creating the thread jet!)

I have every reason to believe this board has already been dumped. I don't have any dumping equipment myself, but knowing the list of people that had it before me I'm 99% sure the roms will show up soon. I PMed devil to see if he still has any pictures of the board he had, as I want to verify that this was the same one he once had in his possession. We'll see what happens!

Cool man. If you dont mind prying eyes, what did you pay for the board? I had never heard of this hack. That's so cool.

I wish I could find the Mortal Kombat Kombo/Turbo 3.1 hack. Real board or even ROMs. it has not been dumped yet as far as I know. Here's some info, not to detract from this thread, but the Kombo/Turbo is pretty cool.

mainman, Final Crash is another bootleg. It's emulated and everything, but there doesn't seem to be much difference other than the title screen and some graphical glitches. I believe Final Crash might not have run on a CPS1 board like this bootleg does - I get the impression FC was made as a cheap alternative to the original.

pd, it's funny you mention that version of Mortal Kombat, as I've been looking for it too! There is also another (and undocumented, afaik) version of Mortal Kombat that I played as a kid. The only thing I can remember about the version I played was that Shang Tsung sat much closer at the Courtyard. I really do hope the 3.1 Turbo board gets dumped, I'm dying to see my enemies levitate after I freeze them! :D

EDIT- Oh, and as far as price goes, think of it this way. I paid what an original Final Fight board would go for, which I think was fair.

Yeah I can attest to this. I just tried final Crash and it's just a regular Final Fight clone ROM. No difference, at least in the first level or so I played. I *really* wanna play this game!

TerryMasters - replied over at the other thread, but thought I would here as well.

Your title screen is different than mine, but it might only be because my board is set on free play via the DIPs, which I have not messed with since I got the board. I haven't messed with them, because I don't want to possibly make the game unstable before I get it dumped. I noticed you mentioned on your video that the game has locked up on you before, which mirrors my concern. Never had mine lock up on me once. Also, difficulty is dead on with mine from what it seems on your vids.

My board cycles through the normal demo with some other stuff going on like I mentioned on the Assembler forum.

You mention on your video that the characters are certain colors - I could have sworn depending on the button I press on mine when selecting them, the colors change; could be wrong on this though.

Pretty much everyting you mentioned about your version on the first 2 videos, is dead on with mine. I will watch the other 3 parts later this evening.

I would definitely like to see a photo of your board at some point in time. Will try to get a photo of mine posted here in the next day or so, though it's nothing to look at really, just a normal Final Fight PCB with a bunch of tape covered eeproms, pretty messsy looking might I add.

When you say yours has tape over the rom windows, do you mean something like electrical tape? Or regular rom window stickers? Mine has regular rom window stickers with printed text on them although I can't quite make out what it says. There are a few that also have hand-written numbers on them. I'll see if I can take a picture of it without removing it from my cab.

Also, I have tried selecting different colors via different buttons, but to no avail. All three buttons result in the same color for me, the only difference being between P1 and P2.

Yeah, mine have electrical tape, and it's pretty sloppy. The pieces are as huge as the chips themselves, and most go over the sides; it looks like a mess. Whoever cut or ripped the pieces off definitely did not do it with scissors.

I could be mistaken on that, probably just thinking the colors that they were anyway. Been a while since I sat down and made that one list out.

Yeah. We need that gal image.

There is no GAL chip on mine...
Mine has a PAL on it.

While I'm all for this being dumped, I just love it when people that are doing this stuff haven't a slightest idea of what they are even talking about:
The EPROMS have been modified and phoenixed.

...Final Fight boards are not suicide protected.

None the less, I'm glad that it wasn't submitted to a certain MAME dumper so they can sit back and hoard the files and claim them as their own; very glad he contacted the other MAMEdevs.

Here's to hoping that the oddities of the thing can be explained once people start looking at the coding.

I've seen pics and discussion about it using a gal chip on that other forum. Maybe it just uses the original pal if you hack an original FF? Be interested to know.

I LOL'd about the suicide part also though it still has a hacked "c" board. Not the suicide hack though.
