You may remember the thread awhile back called "PGM owners, sign in (plus KoV question)" well this is just like that one, except there are no KoV questions.

I think there was an Atomiswave thread like this too.

Personally I've been a big fan of IGS for a long time. In the past i've owned the original PGM hardware with a Bee Storm II cart, and Martial Masters. Today (1/14/09) I just got my New Oriental Legend 2 kit.

Trying to compose a list of all the people on this forum that own, or have owned in the past the PGM 2 hardware, and exacting what games you have.

There really isn't a lot of info about the PGM 2 hardware. I might be wrong, but I think there are only 2 games ATM, and i'm not sure if there's going to be anymore. Even though Martial Master 2 would be too sweet.

If you don't know... OL 2 is a mix between a beat-em up + fighting game. Beat-em up like The Ninja Turtles, where you walk around and beat up baddies, BUT it has fighting game elements where you can actually do combos and stuff.

search youtube for gameplay videos.

- Max 330 Mega - Oriental Legend 2 kit
- metalslug5 - Oriental Legend 2, and Knight Of Valour Legends

So chime in here if you have, or have had owned the PGM 2 hardware and we'll get your name on the list!

Isn't this the only game available for the system?

And isn't it like $800 after shipping...for a beat-em-up?

They also have Knights of Valor 2: the legend. I got my kit for $526 shipped.

Just had a quick go, and it's incredibly fun. It's a fighting game beat-em up. it's like D&D with some fighter (don't know what to compare it to) mixed all together + it has RPG elements too there's a card reader add-on that attaches to the mobo, and you store your characters level + items, and you can save gold and buy items.

Seems really deep.

Cool where did you order your kit from? Also do you know what other games are planned for the platform?

As far as I know MM 2 hasn't been made yet. I'm just really hoping they'll make it someday. I mean I guess it's possible there's a proto floating around somewhere, but I never heard of it.

Got it from my source in Hong Kong. They're called "Legend Company". Incredibly good prices on stuff.

And of right now I don't know squat about what's going on with the PGM 2 hardware. I can hardly find any info. as it is. For all I know these are the only 2 games that are going to be on it.:oh_no:

Oh wow man!!! I didn't think the PGM2 was available. I hope they can release at least a few games on it. I just wrote a big article on IGS and the PGM for a game blog a friend and I are starting. If martial masters 2 was ever released I would seriously pay a thousand bucks for a PGM2 setup.

Contgrats on the setup man!

It really is a blast. Going to say it's in my top 5 favorite arcade games of all time.

Spend a good majority of last night playing it after I got off work. I kept telling myself that i'll just go through this stage then i'll stop. WEll, I kept saying that, and saying that and I played until I was too tired to play anymore.

It really is addicting leveling up and looking for new combos. I guess there are hidden pathways you can take, and I was looking for those. It's going to keep me busy for a while.

here's a nice video if you want to see how the combos are:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hf3nYdxtVA

although, that was probably shot at an arcade. I"m able to capture HQ video, and will do so after I'm better with combos.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it too man.... Im a huge fan of PGM and will likely buy one of these sooner or later.. gotta support anyone who is still trying to make OG 2D games.

Thought this thread was dead; But Cool! another owner. Sadly, I don't even have my PGM 2 hardware anymore. Traded it for a PS3. Still though, one of my favorite arcade games of all time.

I got new legend english version from IGS, and chinese version from Legend. The cards arent interchangable. Alta and Igs are develeping KOV3, new fighting system and new characters. A brand new game not an extention. They are predicting 2-3 games a year on the system.

I dont know about erasing the cards. I have been meaning to put one in a hucard reader from the old school sat days. I know there are at least 3 stores per game sometimes 4. You have to know where they are or they wont come out of the ground. Supposedly they change items inside with the amount of money you have. I have 50000 and havent seen any changes yet. There is a store on the 2nd level. one at the lion boss, one at the brick/chain stage very early on. one at one of the late stages. There is a ton of secrets, levels change with your level also.

with 400 plays each and 20 cards. I would say that would last you a long long long time. New legend only has 300 plays a card.

I first saw a trailer for this game early last year and knew from then I would be getting it one way or another! my mate bought one and I was soo jealous and decided I got enough cash saved up to treat myself.

I got my OL2 and kit 2 weeks ago from excellent for $500 shipped :) just waiting for my supergun to arrive so I can play lol but im just wondering do you guys play this on a HD LCD TV? I'm concerned that 2d games will look like poop when on my lcd tv as everytime I play my ps2 through scart the sprites are blocky/blurry :(

are their any faqs? I've been to gamefaqs and cant find anything it sucks that everythings in chinese I wish there was an option in game you could have english text or if there was a guide or something :(

About the cards I've read you can buy more infact I think legend do them for 10 for $12 im tempted because I will probably be playing this game for a LONG time LOL!

its a bloody travesty that games like this dont get the attention they deserve! I honestly would buy 10 copies of the game if it was ever released on ps3/xbox360 to boost sales so that companies like IGS get the recognition they soooooo deserve! I hardly play my xbox360 or other consoles because they dont have games like this.

metalslug5 have you still got KOV:New legends? im really tempted to get it and will probably buy it in a few months but I want to know is the story different? and how long is the gameplay? I mean I know its a remake of knights of valour 2 and graphically it looks alot smoother and crisper and more colourful but whats the extra content?

thanks for any responses.

I'm thinking about getting a PGM2 set up and was wondering if those of you who already have one could give me a little info.

Firstly, I am wondering where you got yours and what are the best (cheapest) places to pick one up.

Second, could someone say more about how these cards work. I know that for games like OL2 you can save your levels/items and such, but what is this about "running out of plays"? Do these cards have a limited use? Do you have to use it to play the game?

Thanks!

hi
Im not sure but I think excellent.com were the cheapest but not sure now could be legend cheaper now, as for the card system you dont need cards to play the game, you can play throught the entire game without a card but having the card reader and cards installed on the mobo looks sweet and adds to the longevity of the game because you can save your character and his Level (you can get them up to lvl99) im not sure I've I did read myself somewhere you have 400 plays per card not sure whether that means you can use it 400 times to save your progress before its worthless or 400 times the card is inserted into the reader?

I could do with some clarification too! also I have to admit I've been playing it and really enjoying it...ive played a couple of times now and im loving everything about the game...the music....the action and enemy AI/design is really nice everything shifts so smoothly and the enemies are hard! this is no simple beat em up! loads up juggles and chances to combo....infact 90% of the time you will only be able to beat a boss with a few credits if you learn how to juggle and combo otherwise you can count on losing loads of creds :(

I personally dont think I'll ever sell this game lol I just honestly dont see myself getting bored of it....i just hope they drop the price of KOV:New legend because I want that next! (hopefully within the next few months)

The cards get used one of there alotted credits, every time you start from the begining title screen. You could use 50 coin credits to beat the game, but it still uses only one card credit. So if you beat the game and start from beginning again, it uses one more card credit.

As far as New Legend goes. It is basically the same game. Some new twists here and there. New moves for each character, after there leveled up. 2 new bosses. A new game mode called thousand troops war mode. Which is basically an all out melee. My favorite mode btw. The cards only have 300 credits. The cards really add to the gameplay and replay value. You get ranked up instead of number leveled up. You save rank, and 4 different kinds of power ups on the cards.

the problem im having with the cards isnt the fact that they run out of credits. its the fact that you can only save one character on a card, and then its permanently tied to that character. half my cards were already used by the previous owner. i dont even think i have enough cards left to start one card myself for each of the games characters, much less for my best friend to as well.

Thanks for the information metal :)

however I was just wondering how are you playing the game? max is playing it in a sega vs cab im using my supergun to my LCD TV (it looks pretty poor on it but I hopefully will be getting an xrgb to fix that problem)

also Legend&Excellent.com are doing the cards for $12 for a pack of 10.......if you guys are ordering something from them it wouldnt hurt to order a few packs from them along with it id even buy some off you!

also metal have you got any resources like an faq or walkthrough and most importantly and english translation! man I really wanna know whats being said between the characters and bosses :D

I have an atomiswave and knights of valour seven spirits and there is an option in system menu where you can switch the region to europe/usa/jap and it outputs the appropiate text....I wish they did that for this game and the pgm2 system :(

btw where did you read about knights of valour 3? I cant find any information at all
