Raiden II - high score saving?

Just finished repairing a few faults on a Raiden II board (I've repaired many hundreds if not thousands of old arcade boards over the years). The Raiden II has been a bit of a pain for various reasons, including a lack of schematics, but now I find that it's not saving the high score table after a power cycle even though I've added a suitable 3.6v lithium battery.

Am I missing something obvious? (possible as I'm knackered right now!).

Does anyone happen to know which chip the battery is backing up with the high score data?

Thanks

From what I've read in the past, changing a good battery or a dead battery kills the board's ability to save high scores. A suicide high score battery maybe? Not sure if there's fix or not, maybe someone else has more info.

Really? How strange!

This board didn't even have a battery when I got it.

Would welcome any further information on this please if you or anyone else can help.

Thanks

Mine doesn't have a battery in it either, but you can see where it was taken out of, so you could replace it if needed, but the thing is that then you'll be replacing this suckers every so often as they are like 2.5v or some shenanigans like that, plus you'll probably be better of installing a quick battery kit, you know like the CPS2 ones.

I write my scores down (the worthy ones) in all the games that don't save them, actually, I have this funky pad the size of a wallet where I write down my scores and some other shenanigans when I'm high, believe it or not I have a Galaga's 200k club (which has just 2 members :() with score, accuracy, stage, and date, I think is quite fun and it keeps me all infant and stuff, like when I used to write down my Megaman, Bionic Commando, Metroid, and games of the sort.

I remember there used to be this magazine with somecodes and stuff and I used to cut them out and glue them to the pages of my book, I had a big sticker on the cover that I stole from a teacher/principal desk, it said Private with a big sign and stuff...man those were the days!

PS: Sorry I couldn't help you out, this post was meant for Twaldz 'cause I know he gets akick out of my shenanigans.

I'm just picturing this guy trying to move the cabinet and keep it powered up, like in the seinfeld episode where George buys a Frogger machine that he has the high score on and if the power is off the score will go away.

cheers,
