Golem, a "boss" monster from the 2002 Konami "Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance" Game Boy Advance video game.

Materials:
Newsprint, Kleenex, white/hot glue, wire twist ties, paperclips, nail polish, and acrylic paint.

(*The dimensions given for this figure are approximations, as the height/width can vary considerably, depending on how the joints are positioned.)
6.0 cm/2.4 in. x 5.2 cm/2.0 in. (highest point x widest point)

Articulation:
Twenty-eight points total: Mid-torso, waist, shoulder, elbow (2), wrist, fingers (14), hips (2), knees (4), and ankles (2). Additionally, all of the links in the chain can move freely.

Damn M, you got some white ass hands.

Sweet creation again. Have you done any alien things from Contra or Blaster Master?

qube: Care to elaborate?

Xian Xi: Yep, my hands, and my entire body, are pretty pale. My skin sunburns pretty easily, so I try to stay out of the sun when I can (I hike anywhere from 3-8 miles almost every day, but I stay in the shade while doing so and wear a hat and other protective clothing).

Too date, I haven’t made any figures from Blaster Master of Contra. I’m not overly fond of Blaster Master (some of the boss sprites have nice designs though), but I’d lay odds that I’ll make something from a Contra game one of these days. There’s a particular enemy from the Game Boy Operation C game, with the delightful name of “Bloodthirsty Squid Lice Mandiabla”, that I’ve considered sculpting several times, but I’ve yet to do so. When it comes to sculpting Konami stuff my primary interest lies in the Castlevania and Silent Hill franchises.

Well, I'm no artist, and it does look like the source image...but, I guess it's just a lack of color that doesn't appeal to me maybe?

I can't put my finger on it, that's why my first post was so vague.

Sorry M, not dissing your work at all, this one just isn't for me I think :)

Everybody has different tastes. I’ve certainly felt the same way you do about any number of art pieces.

There’s not a whole lot I could do with the color, not if I wanted it to look like the source material anyway. The paint I used for the rock body could have used a touch more orange in it I suppose; that would have made it a little more vibrant.

I think what qube was trying to indicate is that the golem looks like a skin golem rather than a stone golem like in the sprite. Right?

I actually think it looks creepier skin colored like that. When I trink of stone golems I think of Dragon Warrior.

Hey M,

Do you only make video game related stuff or do you also make stuff from comics or movies?

YES! That's what it is, I just couldn't put my finger on it or articulate it myself. Thanks.

And again, no offense meant M :)

Xian Xi: The vast majority of my sculptures are video game characters, but I have made some that aren't (Transformers and Wheeled Warriors, for example). Making figures from movies doesn't interest me much, but I have considered doing comic book characters from time-to-time.

I don't think the Golem figure looks like it's made out of skin at all, as the rocky texture is very apparent. That said, I could see mud (if it had two arms it would look fairly similar to the Batman villain, Clayface) or, dare-I-say-it, sh*t.

qube: You needn't fear offending me. Any artist that can't handle feedback on their work, good or bad, shouldn't show it in the first place.

^ What a jackass. I suppose you can do better?

I, for one, think it's just as good as your other stuff. I really liked this boss in the game. When I saw the first pic, I said to myself, "I hope he made it with the orb inside after you break the head off" and then, there it was. Awesome.

Whether I can do better or not doesn't make it not suck.

enjoy my double negatives.
