As the title says, I need a new transistor for my Neck board on the chassis.

Where would the best place to buy one be?

Fry's

They carry NTE spares. You can go to the NTE website and download the cross reference software to see which one of their parts is a decent replacement.

Your first link is to a NTE 198 device, which is a smps driver and not suitable for video drive applications.

Transistor 2SC1507(Y) is the 120-240 hFE gain version of that device. (look at the bottom of the spec sheet for hFE)

Any 2SC1507 would work but consider replacing all three to get the same gain for the RGBs, it is not critical.

This is why I love you guys.

What exactly would happen if I replaced all at the same time? Would the picture be better?

It would not be "better" , it just means that the outputs would be closer matched.
You would be less likely to have to set up bias and gain levels to compensate.

Truth be known, I doubt you would notice any difference, it is not critical.

Just try the one first - see what happens.

Personally I'd do them all. If you're going to do one you might as well do the lot.
