70 year old JPN TV presenter is a Resi Evil 4 master!

This is pretty funny. Particularly if you know who this guy is.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=3-hlqOAkl6A

Cleared Pro mode 5 times, and records 93,150 points in Mercenaries.

The segment is from a show about interesting trivia or rumors about famous people, and it starts off by saying that there's a rumor that Shiro Suzuki, the retired announcer, is an expert at "Biohazard" (they don't seem to specify the game as being Biohazard 4).

Actually, the commentator doesn't go on much about his age, they briefly explain what the game "Biohazard" is, and cut to a shot of him saying in that he doesn't consider himself a master or anything, but that he gets bored playing normal and he has to clear the game on Professional and that he can usually clear over 90,000 points in the Mercenaries.

They then explain how to play "the Mercenaries", and then let him strut his stuff. There's a couple of funny quotes where he says something like "You've got to throw a napalm grenade and let them all burn" and the hosts (professional comedians) laugh at the irony of Suzuki explaining how to burn zombies.

Suzuki also says stuff like "shit", "eat this", and "asshole", which also gets a few more laughs.

All I got from that video is the notion that Japanese tv shows are retarded.

you'd be absolutely right then!

still, this one is genuinely amusing as this guy is normally dead serious but here you have him telling zombies to "eat this" and such, albeit in a polite kinda way.

Thanks for the info. At first the whole thing looked staged/like irony to me, saw his chain of 30 kills and thought hey, what's so special about 30 in a row in the castle level, etc. and couldn't tell wether the commentators were laughing with him or about him.

Funny he says "asshole" and all that stuff, I thought that Japanese TV would be a little more anal about that.

Lots of Japanese television is staged, but from the running commentary it appears obvious that this guy knows what he's doing.

It was heavily edited and dumbed down for average person consumption - for starters the whole time through they referred to the game as "Biohazard", and not Biohazard _4_. To their credit, they did spend a couple of seconds explaining that the Mercenaries was a separate game, but they only bothered to show the highlights like the first 30 kill chain, and the Garrador encounter. Knowing Japanese TV, his playthorugh might have even been edited together from a couple of attempts.

He says "kusoh, kono yarou" which literally translates as "shit, you bad guy", but ends up sounding like "asshole". Japanese doesn't have many actual "swear" words, and unlike English, the bodily fluid swear words aren't considered to be that rude.

I love that the guy at :11 is wearing a shirt that says "$HIT" --it would be like wearing a Japanese shirt on American TV that says something similar.

I also love that the older gentleman appeared to be wearing an ascot.

Janet Jackson was in Japan this week, she made a televised appearance at a dance studio, and one of the Japanese dancers present was a young kid with the word "Fuck" printed on the inside brim of his baseball hat.

I had super-happy laughy-time when I saw that.
