To all Data East fans.

My name is Alex, i represent the business development team for G-mode, who currently obtain the rights to the back catalogue of Data East games.
http://www.dataeastgames.com/news20071201_00.html

I am posting here on this forum to discuss with you all:

First the release of our site www.dataeastgames.com

Second a chance to get to know any possible Data East fans and share your thoughts on these retro games.

Also, would love to take on any questions or any concerns about the once popular Gaming company.

Please feel free to post here.

Also, in regards all Ghostlop Inquiries i will handle them on this thread.

Thank you

Alex

Hello, Alex.

Thank you for introducing yourself. I do have a question that is a concern to both myself and to many members on this forum.

Why don't you guys publishing Ghostlop?

If you guys are not interested in publishing it, then why not just release it into the public domain?

Any chance on a Data East Collection, much like the recent Capcom and Taito compilations (along with the upcoming SNK collection)?

I've been a fan of Data East ever since I was a kid with Bad Dudes, Captain America and the Avengers, and Joe & Mac, but there's a bunch I have still yet to play, like Trio the Punch. I've been clamoring for a Data East Collection for years...please consider it, as now would be a perfect time to do so what with all this retro compilation fever.

To see games like Robocop, Midnight Resistance, Night Slashers, Boogie Wings, etc on one disc would be a dream come true!

I would also be interested to know why there hasn't been a Data East collection released. Data East put out a lot of great games in the past as well as some great Neo games, I am really surprised that a collection never made it out.

As for Ghostlop, I have owned this on MVS and thought it was fantastic. I am really unclear why this wasn't released as a "real" Neo Geo game.

Magical Drop was a fun game to play... now that you have the license for it does that mean you could create more amazingly fun MD games?

Any way your company would see Xbox Live Arcade or the Playstation Network as a viable platform for re-releases? possibly with online play like the SNK releases on XBLA have. I would definitely consider purchasing a title like Magical Drop 3 over XBLA or PSN if there was lag free multiplayer.

I love Desert Assault. That game screams early 90's.

Give Ghostlop a release. It's a brilliant game and it's not that much like Puzzle Bobble.

Data East was a major player in the pinball world.

I'd like to see some of them translated over to console pinball games.

G-mode / Data East

Hello

Im and suprised but also very pleased with the amount of views this thread is getting at a short period of time and i guess it makes my job a little easier so ill try and answers as many questions i can, but to start a little background of our company, G-mode is the leading mobile content providers in Japan (Mobile game company) www.g-mode.co.jp we have currently released Famous Data Titles:
Burgertime
Magical Drop DX
Magical Drop Battle Mode
Karate Champ
Side Pocket
Trio the Punch

and are looking to release more games on the mobile platform

As part of the international division we are currently in the process or are in plans to release games on other platforms. Hence my appearence on this forum, to feel out what games were actually the most popular to release ...and back to your inquiries

1) Magical Drop III & II/ Burgertime might be ressurected on the live consoles platforms.
we currently have these games released on www.Gametap.com at the moment
also:
Gondomania
Karate Champ
Super Burger Time
Lock N Chase
Burnin Rubber
Express Raider
B-Wings
Tumble pop
Street Slam

2) With so much inquiries with Ghostlop, ill have to have my legal team really look into the possible of release of this game, and or if its possible.

3) Seeking out developers to create a possible packaged Data East games as our company only specialized in Mobile Content

4) Pinball Inquiry
Data East Pinball was a separate division within the Data East business and that division was sold to Sega in 1994, which later became Sega Pinball.
After Sega, a company called Stern Pinball purchased this division off Sega and are currently in business today
www.sternpinball.com therefore any inquiries of pinball games going consoles please contact them.

Thank you for inquiries
i look forward in hearing from you all

if you can not be released due to some legal hang up. please release it to the our general comunity. all we want is to be allowed to have it on our neo-geos without feeling like some criminal.

a simple statement to the effect will do.

Whats your take on people re-manufacturing Ghostlop cartridges for use on the Neo-Geo AES and MVS systems? The cartridges are made from dumps of the prototype rom set used in mame, burned onto eprom chips, and soldered back into the cartridges. I know some individuals out there do this for profits. Whats your opinion?

Spin Masters is probably my all-time favorite Neo Geo game. Thanks Data East!

Also, honorable mentions for Fighters History Dynamite...a great Data East Game.

Someone mentioned that Kid Niki on NES was a Data East product. That is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. Heck, even Data East's 'Robocop" on NES was awesome.

Data East.......keep'em comin'.

**Edit**
Gotta give props to Joe & Mac and Karate Champ! Also, BAD DUDES is still awesome to this very day!

The arcade version of Kid Niki was just awesome. I also like Gate of Doom.

Wow, pretty damn sweet. I would LOVE to see some Classics reborn...

Tumblepop (even though its made by Nihon-sumfinsumfin)

And my God, Boogie Wings. Anyone else ever played this game on the arcade? Imagine Metal Slug meets Progear meets Bionic Commando meets Dangun Feveron. Just hella fun to play. Check the vids!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU1g6xNJsOE

I personally think that this company shoud think about releasing some MVS games. I think with a small release you could still profit from the neo geo. If titles were reasonable on the wallet.

I think vectorlogic still has a ton of premanufactured boards and they figured a good way for games to be encrypted. Anyway it would be nice to play neo burgertime or some of the older games programmed for neo-geo.

Hi Alex,

There are many games I see as being profitable today in different formats.

Potential Wii compilation:

Flying Power Disk/Wind Jammers
Heavy Smash
Boogie Wings
Edward Randy
Nitroball
Dark Seal
Wizard Fire
Dragon Gun
Heavy Barrel
Bloody Wolf

I believe the above 10 would be best suited for a compilation on the Wii with optional wii control that would meet the approval of Nintendo. Also, many of the games mentioned above received limited release, and there are no alternatives to play those games for the common gamer (besides Bloody Wolf in Japan). This would make these particular games desirable to even "hard core" audiences.

Thanks,

-Matt

Edit: I bet Joe and Mac would be a great game, too, but I have not played it.

Can someone please delete the romwhore post.:annoyed:

Yes Data East was great, I would love to see a Fighters History sequel. Ghost Loop should be published somehow. An arcade title collection should be in order, specially now with all the acceptance of retro games.
