Anybody into Cadash?

Anyone ever played the old Taito game Cadash? It's pretty cool. It kind of plays like Zelda 2 on the NES. I played the hell out of it on MAME, so I decided to buy it and acquired two boards. I have always wanted to try out the networking feature, since MAME couldn't do it. Unfortunately, link cables seem to be nonexistant, and there isn't any information circulating on the internet about linking them together.

I decided to tackle this issue myself, seeing as probably nobody else has two Cadash boards. After analyzing which pins go where on the board, I have successfully built a link cable. The pinout is the following:

1-3
2-4
3-1
4-2
5-7
6-8
7-5
8-6

I doubt anyone else in the world has any use for this knowledge, but someone might want to archive this info somewhere...

As for how the game runs, it's pretty cool. The characters running on the separate machines start off in separate kingdoms and have a different first level. The two first levels meet at the boss, where the characters team up from that point on.

If you have two JAMMA cabs or superguns, this is a really cool and fun experience! My only complaint is that the music is not synced between boards, so it could get irritating having two setups close by.

Cadash.

I really enjoyed this one, it's like a supercharged Magic Sword with more adventure elements. I haven't played the arcade version in years, but I remember picking up and enjoying the Genesis version a great deal.

Cadash is definitely a PCB I plan on getting my hands on in the not too distant future, I'm a sucker for fantasy side-scrollers, especially ones from Taito.

I will when I get home. It is quite ghetto. I believe I am using standard molex 0.100 8 pin connectors. Got them out of my project cabinet. They were being used to convert a model 2 board to jamma. Rewired them for the link cable. They fit, but I believe the original connector was supposed to be the type with a key on top, kinda like the MVS headphone connector.

The Turbo Grafx version of Cadash is better than the Genesis, because it has all 4 characters, and the Genesis only has 2.

I've never played the arcade one though, and since I try to get most 4-player arcade games, I'd like to have it. I'm probably just going to buy the PS2 Taito collection it's on though (only released in Japan). The last time I saw the board on ebay, it went for more than I was planning to pay.

I like cadash to me one of the best by taito still.

Plunk down alot of qaurters in it in the arcades long ago.

Even when i beat i play it all over again for the fun of it.

Dunno i guess i got a kick out of a arpg that was made for the arcades.Plus the game...wasn't to long so you didn't have to worry about 'getting leg cramps.

Btw the,TG16 version of it is pretty good as well has all 4 characters unlike the genesis one :p

Went to a local Nickel arcade and they had Cadash set up for free play. Spent my time playing it and didn't even have to spend a nickel.:)
