Hello : )

Well, I have a Super neo 29 with a slight monitor issue. Basically- the picture isn't square- and I'm wondering what it's going to take to fix this? I bought 3 of these from a member here on the boards- GREAT transaction btw- but I'm guessing the move wasn't too friendly on this particular cab. So- any ideas? As a rough draft-I've included a picture- the outside box is the monitor bezel- the inside is the actual picture. I'm tried the horizontal hold knob-but I really think I'm missing something. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Possibly just a geometry issue due to age. Bring up a cross-hatch and take a photo if you can.

A cap kit might fix it or it might just be a tube related geometry problem.

Those type of issues drive me nuts. I have sold monitors just because the geometry was bad.

haha..that's almost where I'm leaning with this. The problem is-I have another Super in my garage right now- it's tated- and it's for sale. It didn't have this issue- but this one is hori- has my mobo in it- and is in my house (so I kinda don't want to move stuff around to get to it : P). If I could find a new monitor to flop in this thing- I'd damn near do it ; )

I take it if it's a tube related problem-I'm assed out? Got a website or part number or something for this cap kit you speak of? Forgive the noob-ishness of these questions- but I've never had a monitor like this before :) I'm just trying to get everything straight for my arcade party here shortly (I have 5 cabs in my house right now- 4 are ready to rock : )

well, I have been thinking about it all day- and I have decided. I have monies for whomever can fix this. If anybody has suggestions on where I can take my business- it'd be greatly appreciated :) I have an egret 2 that's a bit on the fuzzy side as well, so I figure I can have them knocked out in one swoop : )

Ask over at killercabs, there are some real monitor gurus there. You never know, there may be a pot on the chassis that helps.

QFT, really helpful guys over there. cant tell you how many problems I have had resolved with the help of you boys.

I would at least try making a thread over here though asking to pay someone for some help. Would probably have more local hits and thusly more people in the immediate area willing to help.

haha..now there's 2 that need this fix..I've got money guys- service my cabs :) I made the mistake of doing the cross hatch cps2 thing on my other cab that looked fine to me- it's not as bad- but I figure over time it will be. : ) Killercabs is providing good infos- but most of those guys are far from local (Vacaville CA 95688)

looks like trapezoid/pincushion adjustments would fix that, no?

I've tried all the pots I can. Lol..I don't want it to seem like the monitors are bad by any means- I only originally noticed with a shooter I play all the time :) Apparantly it's a very common thing for these super neos (a guy from killercabs was saying) about the capacitors drying out- everybody I've talked to says that in parts no more than $20, and time/labor shouldn't be much more. Hell, one of the Super Neos has capacitors different than the other two (and also has a perfect picture) so it leads me to beleive that it has been done already :)

I have pulled the chassis on 2 of these- the game now is finding someone local who knows what they are doing :) (if it's left up to me- it means buying stuff in ones or twos from radio shack and a few hours of soldering : P)

That's where I'm at with my Windy monitor. Just installed a new monitor chassis and now the corners are all out of wack. There's a control board right under the CP but unfortunatly that's only half the adjustments, the other half are on the chassis its self:very_ang: So I'll eventually have to set up a chair with a mirror in front of the cab and get behind it and start fiddling with the pots in the back of the cab. I'm not looking forward to this but I'm sure it can look better than it does now.
