I bought one of those multi jamma swithcers from yaton on ebay but the damn thing does not work. The video will not sync with any of my boards on my new astro cab.

Was wondering if anyone else has one of these things

So you tried this with just one board plugged in and you still can't adjust the sync on your monitor correctly? Most people who get switchers don't realize they only work with PCBs that have the same relative refresh/sync rates.

Yes I tried it with just one board attached, tried both harnesses and still get distortion.

With one board, you should just be plugging it into the connector right on the PCB (not the one with the harness plugged into it). You tried clicking the remote to hear if the relay switches? Can you take a picture of the distortion? I'd love to get one of these too since they are cheap, but not until I'm sure they yours works.

I tested the thing with only one board at a time, by pluging a single board up to the main harness than the secondary one. Yes the relays switched, but thats not the problem as the relays only switch power on and off between the boards. All the other connection including video/audio and I/O are not switched but are always attached to both boards, this works because only one board is on at any time. Yeah it appears yaton has screwed me.

Here a pic

Wow, thats a very bad design if it only switches power to each board. Since this is how it works, then you could try troubleshooting with a multimeter on continuity test, and make sure the video sync lines from each of the connectors runs all the way through to the edge connector (which then goes to your cab). It looks like the sync is either getting split, combined, or not connected at all. You could also try testing to see if any voltage is leaking back to the other connector.

Did you read what he was talking about? Or did you just post when you read and misinterpreted the title? Just wondering.

I got the joke he implied yaton sells junk, was there something else.

Yes I tried two boards of the same class at the same time and no it did not work, did not work with one board attached.

Maybe install a diode where the sync is split. :conf:

what about a resistance test on the sync line?

Yeah I was thinking about this as I notice other such devices seemed to have a resistor mod, just can not remember where I saw this
