Lots of people around here have some damn fine collections. You don't see them randomly spamming up other people's threads with their collection photos though. I don't mind it too much, but it gets a bit out of hand at times.

Time to drop some 8man bait...

Any of you have any rare AES carts? Neo Geo duffle bags? Lame and bulky Ben Heck portable MVS systems?

Just wondering :(

The granny thing was from some trial in the South where one granny's kid got off on charges brought about by the other granny's kid iirc. I saw it on one of those crappy court room shows.

And yeah, I thought I was the only one (judging by how everyone swings from his collection's nuts), but I think 8-Man is a massive douche.

Big deal dude, you spend copious amounts of cash on videogames that probably get played once a year (if that much)...whoop-dee-doo

Pics of Neo Geo duffle bags plz. :drool_2:

Seriously though, yeah, many of us have nifty colections and I can understand the impulse to want to share. And many of us do enjoy drooling over pics anyway. But it's better to stay reserved and sensible about it rather than getting spammy with the personal pics. We did have a nice "Things I got this month" thread somewheres for that sort of thing if I remember correctly. There is a time and place for everything, and all that.

That said though, I know I have said "The games were meant to be played." in previous threads, and I never buy games, no matter how rare or popular, that I would not want to play as well as have in a collection. But I don't actually think there is anything wrong with collecting for collecting's sake. It's all just a hobby either way. And it's good to see the originals preserved by loving hands. So hating on collectors seems a little silly to me. Whatever you get out of the Neo is fine by me. It's all good fun. Just exercise common sense when posting personal pics etc.

Well, to be fair, I don't think anyone has a collection of games, whether it's Nintendo games or whatever, that they play all of constantly. Even proper gamerz can only play so much. Life is busy, hopefully anyway. It's just that, with the Neo, the cost is often high enough that the issue of "justifying" the purchase tends to come up more often. But how cost is viewed is relative from person to person anyway.

So if you want to take some collection pics, I say, go ahead and take them. Buying stuff on Ebay is nothing to be inordinately proud of. But a good collection is nothing to be ashamed of either. Just share the pics in the appropriate place and time is all.

mmhh... thx man... but my post was steeped in Greek irony and immense fondness for my mate Qube...

I usually just do what I want to do... nothing really stops me... and that includes a post from that Qube_noob....:D

PS. My pron collection >>> Qubes pron collection...:emb:

OK, I'll bite.

I haven't been able to show you guys what I've been up to. ^_^

I only got my machine in February. This is what I've got so far:

I've cleaned out the machine since I got it. I fixed the marquee light and have replaced the buttons/sticks.

Fighters are on top. Middle row is Puzzlers/Shooters. This is where I spend most of my time. 3rd row is sports/other/metal slug. The boxes on the bottom row hold other artwork/dipswitches/etc.
The unreadable title next to KOF 2000 is KOF 2003. I also have Money Puzzle Exchanger but it is out on loan to a friend. The title next to FF2 is RB1.

Yeah, a lot of people think I'm stupid for hanging the artwork/movelists/marquees but I dont really care. I like having it up there in an ecclectic fashion. Eventually I'll frame them when I move the machine into the new arcade I'm building. I do like to regularly rotate marquees in the machine.

So, my collection probably isn't as awesome as 8-man or others, but I think it's pretty good for just having done it for 3 months. Let me know what you think

Metal Slug (8man)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hey 68k,

I'm getting Pocketgamer hooked up with a reputable seller.
He's going to get an original MS US for under $2,000.
(a lot less than his $2,850 asking price.)

8man = good guy!!
Saved Pocketgamer over $900!

Just bought Metal Slug Collection for PSP today!!
(and Diggerman MVS)

ps: I'm not sure how old you are...
I just read this article... if you start investing $200/month in an IRA at 8% interest (in your 20s),
when you retire at 65, you will have over $4 million saved up.
If you start in your 30s = $2 million
If you start in your 40s = $800,000

Start an IRA asap!! It makes a BIG difference the earlier you start.
($200/month = $2,400/yr)

You can max out an IRA at $333/month or $4,000/yr = $8 million when you retire (if you start in your 20s).

That's a dope collection, Ryo. And you guys shouldn't be too hard on poor 8man... his Neo Geo Cockwaving is more than likely just a cry for some acceptance from you guys.

slug 4 and 5 are pretty shitty games.

pretty sad/pathetic to own (atleast) 4 copies of each.

then again, he's probably never played em.

@ryogakagi: thats a cool collection. i wish i had that much artwork.
stupid observation, but that vent on the wall is friggin huge.

It's a return air vent. It also has the furnace and such behind it. Trust me, this apartment was made by the lowest bidder.

I definetly did NOT pay full collectors price for the artwork. There is an arcade owner who is retiring that is selling off good bits of his collection. For instance I paid $20 for the full kit of Shock Troopers, no joke. Whenever I buy a cart from him (around 20-25 dollars) I load the kit box up with artwork from his other games. I've gotten a number of notable games from him for cheap. Blazing Star, KOF 97, Metal Slug 1, Shock Troopers 1, Mutation Nation. Samsho 1-3 kits, etc. If it wasn't for him I probably wouldnt have nearly the amount of stuff.

Eventually I'll replace the boots with the real deal but for now I'm on a neo-geo binge and want to play as many carts as I can get my hands on. = )

I love Rot, easily one of the coolest members ever

He gets what I'm sayin, and that's why I love him dearly.

I think some people are missing the point. There's nothing wrong with having cool stuff, Neo related or otherwise, it's when you brag about it all the fucking time, and spam up multiple threads with pics of your shit that it becomes annoying. No one asked to see it in threads up and down the General Discussion forums, in topics not even remotely related to collection pics.

Yes!

And that is why this thread exists; so 8man can get it all out of his system and into this thread.

Mods: feel free to move any of 8man's spam posts into this thread.
