Fist off, Lego Star Wars 2 on the 360 went down from $50 to just $20 at EB Games and Gamestop.

http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=952060

That in itself is pretty kick ass. So, I called my local Gamestop to see if they had any used copies in. Guy said he had one in marked at $44.99. I asked him to check just in case the price drop was not effective in store. He checks it and what do you know, only $17.99. So I ask the guy to hold it back for me. He kindly does so and I take my happy self down to Gamestop.

I go to the front counter and ask for my held back copy of Lego Star Wars 2. Random Gamestop douche gets it and brings it to the front counter. He rings it up. Now comes the "WTF" look. He checks again. I sit there smiling just waiting. After he wipes the dumbfounded look off his face, he says "Your total will be $19.67". I then say, "Actually, I want to take money from a pre-order of SNK Capcom Card Fighters for the DS and put it towards the purchase of the game". Figured since the game sucked and was broken, I might as well get my $5 back.

Of course he's now a little annoyed that he has to lose a pre-order (even though it doesn't matter for his numbers). So he then tells me I need my pre-order reciept to take the money off with a look like "Ha, you're screwed now". I slowly open my wallet and slap down my reserve reciept. He grudgingly scans it in and then fiddles around with the computer a bit. He says "Alright, your total is now $14.85".

Again, I have to stop my speedy friend to say "I've got my %10 off card". So he hastily takes the card and scans it in. It seems he still hasn't learned his lesson as he starts to give me the total. "Alright so the total will be......". I cut him off and say, "Actually I have a %10 off coupon for any used game". At this point he's pissed he's had to go through all this BS while trying to rush me through. He scans that in and then waits.

At this point it's just golden because he thinks I have something else. Of course I'm all through and ask him "So what's my total?". He says, "Your total will be $10.74" in a low mumur. I take the game and go home for some gaming goodness.

So I end up getting the game for a little over $10 all while screwing with a jerk off Gamestop employee.

While I don't condone messing with any retail employee....I can admit to the guilty pleasure of seeing a Gamesopt/EBgames employee get angry

I'll take my time to get games the cheapest way I can, especially if I know that the corrupt store won't make a profit.

PS2 version had a game-breaking glitch. When you're in dagobah, if you fall in the swamp, you get stuck. Damn developers and their QA outsourcing.

It wasn't a good game to pick up at $50 was it?

I rest my case :emb:

So because I haven't gotten around to purchasing every game I want at $50 it's not good enough? Your logic is impecable.

Really, that sucks. All the better then I guess for $10. I thought the first one was a fun side title and the 360 looked a bit better, plus it's got the achievements, so it seemed pretty cool. Although online support would have been a plus.

i hate customers like that. i liked managing a fast food place back in the day. because when they'd come in with coupons and reciepts and give me that "i'm always right" attitude i'd tell em we don't need their business. and then they'd get mad and drive off. now i don't have to deal with that. but back in the day it was always nice knowing a jackass customer was another jackass i could tell to fuck off if need be.

Hmm.

You had him take a $5 preorder off of your total, and he took off $4.82.

And then you had a 10% off discount from $14.85, which would make the total $13.37, and then you had another 10% off, which would make the total $12.03.

So how did you get another $1.29 off of the total? Did you suck him off right there under the counter?

You should have had him take off the 10% discounts first (edit, "Idiot" ;) ).

(or maybe it did in fact take the coupons off from the original price... hence dark andy's fuzzy math)

Actually under our new POS that's no longer the case. A cancellation of a reserve is the deathknell for an employee looking to keep his numbers up. It makes absolutely ZERO sense to me why it should affect our numbers (nevermind how it dumbfounds me why they're so anal about reservation percentages in the first place).

Anywho...LOL at that employee. I get guys like you every so often in there and most of these kids get all bent out of shape about it. I personally don't think it's a big deal since I know there's PLENTY of people who'd like nothing better than to stick it to GS/EB. Good find on that Lego Star Wars, I'll have to snap me up a copy the next time I work. :)

It's not fuzzy, it's accurate.

He could not have taken off the discounts first because the teller had already given him the total after the $5 off, he'd have had to have restarted the whole thing or voided the $5, put in the discount and then take the $5 off again.

So :

$19.67 -10%
=$17.70 -10%
=$15.92 -$5
=$10.92

I would then assume the taxes are taken off of the total during the order?

Still doesn't answer why he would take the 10% off AFTER the $5, after he gave you the total for $5 only. :spock:
