Ok....I had some money burning a hole in my pocket today, so I decided to go out and purchase a Hori Fighting Stick 3 for the PS3. It's a nice little stick (maybe not for the price), but it worked well on Tekken 5 DR when I tested it. It is much nicer (read: heavier & more responsive) than the DOA4 stick for the 360 imo.

It will definately hold me over until I can get my hands on a VSHG.

Oh...and as the title suggests, I tested it out on MAME and it worked great. I thought that may be some good news to someone besides me.

If you have any questions about the stick, fire away...

I've been considering a purchase, just to hold me off until the VSHG issue is resolved. I don't play ROMs these days, at least not on the PC, but it is good to know that it works just the same. How long is the cable?

How do connect this to your PC? Do you need some kind of receiver for it, since it's wireless?

Yeah, it's a usb cable as GD said.

As far as the cable length...the box says 3 meters.

I have a question. I have this stick too but when I plug it in windows, detects it, installs it but button presses don't register when i press them. did you do anything to get it to work?

jdmishima are you sure you have the Fighting Stick 3 and not the Arcade Pro 3. Everyone ive seen hasnt got it to recieve inputs on the pc out of the box except for a few that mention it once but they seem questionable.

Id kill to get this working in mame, mines in the mail and hopefully it works out.
For those trying to get it to work try these drivers that someone made over a virtuafighter.com. They dont seem to help many people though.

Anyone else got this thing to work on PC? And please what operating system. Ill post me results and efforts when i recieve it.

cable length is not an issue as you could buy any USB extension cable

I, for one, have my PC connected to my HDTV for games, and it's across the room (as opposed to the game systems which are right under the TV).

Yup just got it, and not to my surprise it doesn't work on pc...grrr

It recognized it as a 13 button 4 axis pad with hat switch, but NO input at all.
Tried those drivers, no go, says incomplete will not work (something about the registry) like everyone gets at all the forums

Im putting this down as definitely not compatible with PC now as every forum that talks about it has one guy that says it works once and everyone else saying it doesnt with same errors on multiple set ups.

Its a very nice stick though clicks very nicely, my first arcade stick(40$ total ebay what the hell) actually and since I don't have a ps3 ill sit on it because someday somebodys gotta make one...:oh_no: or me get a ps3:lolz:

I beleive it has something to do with there being no digital/analog switch like the real arcade pro 3, because for that to work you have to switch off digital. hmm

After playing with it more over time, I've found that it works perfectly with some games and not at all with others. It's kinda hit and miss I suppose. I guess I was a bit presumptuous to think that if it worked for one game on the pc that it would work for all of them. Sorry...my mistake.

I have been able to use it on MAME, zsnes, Nestopia, VisualBoy Advance, Magic Engine, Gens, etc...

One of the only things I can't get it to work on is NeoRageX.

When I said that it works on the PC, I wasn't lying at all. I guess I should have just included the disclaimer "It isn't 100% compatible with every single program on the PC"

Such is the nature of pc gaming. Neorage is a pretty old program, I had problems with my stick going back a few years ago. I'm sure the stick will work with anything recent with direct input support and mappable controls.

Man, I wish there was a stick like this for the Xbox 360, so I can play Virtua Fighter 5 the way it was meant to be played. I'm hoping that Gamestop listing is accurate...

The problem isnt with a program its my comp (and most everone) comp definatly fails to reganize any input at all let alone input at a program stand point. Most likely due to to the fact that it doesnt have a digital/analog switch because the hori arcade stick 3 acts the same way until you switch it off digital that fs3 stuck in

The fact yours works at all is interesting(and im dying to get mine working) if you dont mind me asking some questions

-When you plugged it in what was it recognized and installed as?

-If you could go to control panel-device manager and to Human Interface Device then to USB Controller and propreties could you please take a pic of the driver tab(prtsc sys req key near f12) maybe some comps auto install a wrong driver

-In control panels game controller what does it com up as and in properties a keys registered?

Thanks if your willing to answer those maybe I can work it out for the rest of us. Especially if you do the secound question

For some reason I can't get the Print Screen key to work, but here is the info from the driver screen:

Driver Providor: Microsoft

Driver Date: 7/1/2001

Driver Version: 5.1.2600.2825

Digital Signer: Not Digitally signed

The computer actually recognizes the device as Fighting Stick 3. Apparently, there is a custom driver floating around on the virtuafighter.com forums, so I may have installed that. Honestly, I don't remember doing it at all, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

If I can help anymore let me know

I've used my HRAP3 on MAME, Kawaks & the model 2 emu to play Daytona, just needed to set my buttons up, stick worked fine plug & play, my PS3 & PC are right next to each other & the lead is long enough Imo.

Very interesting thanks for responding :) Definatly not the driver ive tried, its not the one floating around. Maybe the problem is some peoples os install a wierd driver. Well if you could give me yours it would be awesome and maybe that would solve the problem

If you could..

Just go to Control Panel/Device Manager/ Human Interface Devices/Usb Controller/Drivers Tab then driver details, youll see a menu where the driver actually is on your computer like (C:/Windows/System32/something.sys)

If you could go there and make a copy of all the files that where in that menu(should be like 3) maybe I could get this thing to work:mr_t:

O and whats it say above driver provider in the driver tab maybe I could find it by name

You need to have the HRAP3 in left analogue mode (move the switch down one position from the top) in order for your pc to recognize it.

Well with the help of the ipvideo who made the PS3 Sixaxis driver he fixed up the driver floating around on virtuafighter.com. Unfortuantly it doesnt work for me ><. Here it is anyway as it might work for some. i think im just gonna take mine apart and mod the pcb to a xbox controller and hook it up that way to work

Yo man, I have the same arcade stick but it doesn't work on my pc. I hav windows Vista and the arcade stick dosen't work on MAME, CPS3, or GGPO, so do I need anything for the computer for it to work on these programs?

Will give it a whirl tomorrow or so and double check.
