I'll wait for the torrent......

Why?

Coz you don't like the people who made it as they charged loads (i.e. 'normal AES prices) for the carts?

I'm not keen on old games being sacced, but I don't think d/l games is much better.

No. because they should have done an MVS version first before a DC port.

How is that so? At least when you download the game you aren't killing any existing games.

Oh, and $700 for BARE PCBs isn't standard AES price.

Nice price.

Exclusive CD Game Modes:

* Adjusted difficulty (Reduction of shoot frequency und flight velocity of enemy bullets / no ranking)
* Explosions / particle effects reduced for more clarity on screen
* Better hitting response for hit enemies
* Improved visualization of boss hit zones

I have placed my preorder - just because a small group of people make a game doesn't make it shit - by some peoples account here, all games pre 1990 were shit - well, most games I like happen to be pre 1990 (of course I like some more recent games too). I hope more games like this come out - and the price isn't bad too compared to the joke of xbox 360 game prices.

Downloading games that are currently on sale by the creators = not on.

$700 for a faux neo game - it's the neo geo, if you don't like the price, you don't buy it (or buy the DC version).

Oh and MVS version - it's a shame perhaps, but I'm sure MVS owners would have had something to moan about if they did it.

I know it's a homebrew game, but so what if it's good. I love the neo geo and if someone produces a half decent game for it I'll try and get it or at least get the port.

I played Fakk2's AES version at a local neo meet up and it was pretty fun, very difficult too. It didn't feel like a homebrew to me.

Anyways, considering they're the only company with the drive to support these two fine systems with an original title, the hell with bashing their efforts, I am going to buy the DC version to help out the group that created the game. Hopefully we'll see more titles from them in the future.

NICE!
I'll be shure to pre-order. Didn't feel like droping the coin for the Neo home cart but I would live to get some more DC luvin since I have my kiosk hooked up now.

Why? What are you....Jewish?
Last Hope has got to be one of the best & most professional "homebrew" titles seen.
and yes, the game did get some reviews: The game got a great writeup in Retro Gamer magazine (and I'm talking a big multi page article that was even put on the cover) as well as one hell of a review from our very own Jeff Kurtz.

And just how the hell can you justify that?

Financially, it's easy money for them. Tap into the market of people who won't pay $700, don't have an AES, etc, once all the people who will pay $700, have paid $700. All that is required in "doing an MVS version" is soldering the chips to different boards.

Come on, get real man. MVS carts are still going to cost some coin. They will not be "cheap" by any means. A DC run is a much wiser decision. Just look at the DC scene over the last 5 years.

But a DC port requires work. An MVS port is just "okay, now send us MVS boards to sac instead of AES boards".

I see where you are coming from but chips & boards add up. The amount of MVS carts sold would no doubt be dwarfed by DC sales. Just look at the sales that the dreamcast games have done since the system was axed. They are very solid & respectable. hell, Ikaruga was NCSX's best seller EVER for them. It shatered records.
Face it, there are simply alot more people with DC's out there than MVS's (at home that is, not on route). The higher sales justify some additional programing.

But still, with the MVS version requiring zero effort, why not at least do both? Or release an MVS release while working on the DC one?

People aren't expecting another game by the creators, so it's not the same. Killing an existing game and lowering the chances that a developer will make another game are 2 VERY different things...

$700 for a homebrew game (Blah, blah, it looks professional; the reason why people pay butt loads of money for expensive AES titles is because of their value and 100% authenticity as an original SNK(Playmore) title) still is out of the traditional Neo-Geo pricing. It's even worse when you know for a fact that the game will be ported in BETTER forms to other formats (There's no more exclusive quality for the title; you know that you're basically paying butt loads of money for an inferior version. The developer's used this version to see what people didn't like about it, and then made those changes to this cheaper DC port).

I'll still buy it (and the OST if one comes out), but I'm just offering this alternative perspective on the issue.

Oh, and I expected them to do an MVS release as well for max profits (You should release different versions of the game from most expensive to least expensive to maximize profits; first get all the people that'll pay $700 for it, then all the people that'd pay $300 (Guessed MVS price), then all the people that'd pay $60 (Guessed NGCD price), then you have the cheap DC release).
