I finally got around to releasing a New version of the Universe Bios. I was hoping to get this released sooner but it took longer than I had expected.

WHATS NEW IN VERSION 2.3
----------------------------

Additions / Changes
  • Hilighting 'Soft Reset' in the ingame menu will now give you new options when moving the 1up joystick left and right. New options are;
    • Main Memory Viewer
    • Video RAM Viewer
    • Menu Color Changer
  • The screen will now blank out if the ingame menu is left alone on its main menu page (after about 1 minute). Simply move or press any 1Up control to restore the screen. This new option helps prevent monitor burnin if you use the ingame menu to pause your games.
  • Removed the trackball cheat from 'The Irritating Maze', instead trackball support is always enabled unless the joystick cheat is used.
Fixes
  • Fixed a minor ingame menu color issue with 'Real Bout Fatal Fury'.
  • Fixed music offset so 'GhostLop' music can now be heard in the jukebox.
  • Fixed 'SVC Plus' bootlegs from not allowing character select when in console mode.
Cheats / CRC Database
  • Added crc info for 'Metal Slug 6 hack'.
  • Added crc info for the AES version of 'Metal Slug 4'.
  • Added crc info for 'King of Fighters 2002 Magic Plus (hack)'.
  • Added crc info for 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Super Plus (hack)'.
  • Added cheats to give 1000 credits in 'Jockey GP'.
  • Added cheats to give 1000 credits in 'VLiner'.
  • Added cheats to 'Metal Slug 6 hack'.
  • Added cheats to play as Rugal in 'KOF 94'.
  • Added cheats to play as Amakusa in 'Samurai Shodown'.
  • Added cheats to unlock bosses in 'Art of Fighting'.
  • Added cheats to unlock bosses in 'Bang Bead' plus more.
  • Added cheats to shrink characters in kof96.
  • Added cheats to force single color blocks to drop in 'Gururin'.
  • Fixed the 'KOF 97' red energy cheat to the correct energy level.
  • Updated the 'KOF97' unlock bosscharacters cheat to also allow Orochi.
  • Updated the 'Fatal Fury 2' hidden character cheats, hopefully they wont't cause a crash now after winning a match. There will still be problems on the continue screen.
  • Added cheat to allow more than one projectile in 'KOF94' and 'KOF96' though it only works well if used with the action speed up cheat.
  • Added Cheat / CRC support for the following Korean releases.
    • Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior
    • Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers
    • Fighters Swords
    • The Last Soldier

Just a FYI, the MV-1B has a soldered bios, not socket eprom.

I know, im getting well prepared for the soldering job ahead of me, was reading up on the Unibios bio page on how to add the eprom onto the 1B. It will be a bit of a chore but not as bad as I origionally thought since I know a few people who are rather handy with a soldering iron and electronics.

Yeah the install is not impossible, but definately not for soldering n00bs. I just wanted to make sure you were aware before you order a unibios and realize the mobo you have doesn't have a socket.

Just a suggestion, when you install the bios, i would highly reccomend installing an eprom socket.

Serial #'s 015662 and 013092

You confirmed that they were shipping ear;ier this week, but will I be getting versions 2.2 or 2.3? Thanks for your reply.

Hey Raz,

Is it possible to create a cheat for Street Hoops where you can use the c button for a turbo effect just like in NBA jam? Nothing too fast just maybe a 2x boost in speed.

Thanks

I doubt that is posible given the HW limitations.

the eprom socked its a must have! Well, not must! But you get the drift. This makes it almost retarded how easy it is to upgrade your bios, and or even downgrade back to the original. This makes it so that you have the same feature as on the other models of the mvs where all you do is plug, and play. If you take the time to throw one of theese in, you will not regret it at all!

you need to set the game select option in test mode soft dips to free/anytime.

Hey Raz,

Is it possible to make a cheat for Sengoku 3 where the enemies have less energy and there are more enemies on screen or up the frequency of enemies?

I was playing it yesterday and it seems to drag due to the fact that all enemies take a while to actually die which slows down the gameplay so I figure if it was more like Final Fight where there are more enemies but they die faster then it would increase the replay value for Sengoku 3.

Let me know if it's possible.

I dont think this would be possile it a cheat, it would more require a total game hack and reprogram to EPROM on the cart.
