After a long, drawn out process, I got my twin astro cities delivered to my front step yesterday afternoon! I am beyone pleased with these cabs, they're probably among the nicest I've seen. Here's a glimpse of them, I'll take more pics tommorow.

They look in swish condition too!
My New Astro City has slight yellowing on the speaker covering, I wonder what causes it to yellow more than the surrounding parts?

Put them side by side. :D

Yeah next week when I get paid I'm going to replace all buttons and joysticks on the control panels. They're not terrible, but I want new.

Enough typing, back to Third Strike.

Hey, are they Sanwa or Seimitsu sticks?

The yellow probably has to do with the bezel being made up of another type of plastic than the rest of the cabinet. Kind of like the SNES cover. Or it might have to do with UV rays transmitted from the fluorescent light.

Man, looking real nice bill. If I had the room, I'd pick up a few. Sadly the mrs. and I are in a really small 2 bedroom house at the moment. Love the hori and vert setup on each machine. You offically have made one more person jealous of your nice setup.:eek:

Nice cabs - astros kick so much ass. Just wish I could find replacement side art on mine.

I got the cabs from Matsu, Droid helped me pick them out.

The joysticks on the vert are Sanwas and the hori has seimitsus. They will have brand new Sanwa sticks w/ octagon restrictors and brand new sanwa push buttons mid-next week (depending on how slow Rod @ Himura is on shipping).

@Carlos: I don't like to talk numbers unless I'm selling something, but they weren't cheap.

@Gamejunkie: If I were to spray paint the speaker housing with the Krylon plastic paint, do you think they will yellow again? I've never really painted plastic before...

@Robot: If the sideart is partially there, you should look into getting it airbrush-touched up. As for finding new art, I've never seen any for sale, but I'll contact you if I find some.


By the way, does anybody know where to get 4 button sega control panels in the neogeo setup? I would prefer an official Astro city panel, but will settle for anything that will fit and is in good shape.

Oh yeah so I decided to make one of the twins a boy and one a girl LOL. The boy is going to have Green and Blue buttons/ ball tops, and the Girl is going to have Pink and Purple buttons and balls.

The Krylon will work... the speakers and coin slot tend to yellow bc they are unpainted plastic and have more than likely absorbed plenty-o niccotine from the arcade they were in. bc the rest of the cab is painted, the smoke doesn't effect it much.

Matsu should have CPs if you want too... just email and ask what he has in stock... i know he even does custom layouts in aluminium.

Glad ya liked the cabs Bill. The new astros are sweet machines and yours are very nice :drool_2: I'm glad ya opted for these over the older astros. I have one set for upside down verts (old timey games) and I will never sell it, even though I have a few other cabs.

You can get brand new factory sega 4 button cps (neo style) from oxtsu over at shmups.com when he puts together another group order. I think they are $160 plus shipping. I was tempted to get one or 2, but I've got 2 egretII's and an AWsd with that config and I'm using both of my sega astros for verts...I might break down and grab 1 the time around and if my budget allows.

Nice cabs Bill, thats enough candy to give you a toothache. I know you've been looking forward to getting those cabs for a while now, and I'm glad your happy with them. I almost bought an Astrocity from Matsu about a month ago, but then I wound up not having to go to Southern Cali, so I just decided to stay home.

I want one of his egret II's but I seem to have a problem gathering up $1200 all in 1 place. I'll have candy one day, but my stand up big red is good for the time being.


btw, that Ketsui looks real good. I have yet to play it.

Thanks for the props on the cabs, i love them. I'm almost there to new buttons and sticks on the twins, if only Rod would hurry his ass up and ship my suff (Damn you Himura Games!!!)

Anyhow, Ketsui was actually a big dissapointment to me. It wasn't nearly as fun/cool as Progear, Guwange or Esprade. After playing it, I can see why its port-less.
