Anyone unable to edit very old posts?

Am I correct in assuming that one of the casualties of the forum upgrade was the loss of autonomy in regards to post editing? I was trying to clean up my sales thread by removing items that were sold when I noticed the absence of an edit feature.

Anyone else noticed this? And if so, is there any remedy for it?

I had never noticed that before. I tried to edit a post from '05 but I found no edit button. I also noticed that the "find all posts by Michael Yagami" function no longer goes all the way back to my very first post (May '02). It stops at Feb. '05.

I just checked and I can only edit posts from the last 30 days or so. Diff. Doesn't bother me, but then again I don't have a sales thread I need to continually update.

I wonder if its something they changed, or if it's something they forgot to change.

no one can edit posts after a certain amount of time has passed.

Thanks for the clarification. I noticed this was a feature in some other UBB forums, thought it was a matter of time before it was implemented on this forum along with a software upgrade.

It's more-or-less always been there, but the time limit is so long that no one usually notices.

So, any words of wisdom regarding my selling thread?
Update on lower, more recent posts/ bumps?

Thanks

so is there any particular reason for not allowing us to edit old posts?

I ask this because I needed to update the high scores thread in Gameplay, but alas I can not.

I guess this mesure is there in order to prevent people from abusing the edit function and deleting all their posts, it's happened on the past.

has there been enough abuse of that lately to warrant this? maybe I missed something. usually people edit out their posts/threads quickly, not after a few months.

I just don't think the idea of only letting people edit posts that are less than a month old has more positives than negatives.

Anyway, if this policy isn't going to be changed, could a mod at least unsticky the high scores thread in Gameplay since threads like that are pointless now? Thanks.

oooookay...

here's another thought - the War Room has a feature which lets us view edit history. If there's any concern about people editing out their posts for whatever reason, why not enable the view edit history for the rest of the forums?

I've been curious myself... I sometimes move threads to the War Room to see what the deleted material was.

Bobak, I'm beginning to think that you have nothing better to do than move threads and merge them for the hell of it.

not asking for much here, mods. Either an answer on the strangely reduced edit time limit, or an unstickying of the high score thread since it's worthless now. One or the other, please?

Heya. :) Sorry to bump this, but I was having a problem editing the title on a sales thread. It's slightly under a month old, and I was just wondering if there's any way around this (other than making a new thread of course). Thanks.
