Hey guys I want to build my own supergun, I got this off ebay yesterday and want to make a built in mvs system but I was thinking to make an entire stand out of it with a build in mvs system with my hyper also, just would have a back panel door to switch the jamma harness. Any suggestions would be helpful.

My goal is to build a stand out of this control panel, have a MV-1B board screwed down toward the back with a slot big enough to switch out carts, with a back panel for easy access. I would have wooden shelves below for putting 4 hyper 64 mobos each with a different game and an easy way to move the jamma harness around from board to board. I would also drill a small hole on top for a pause button and the other buttons I would need select, ect.

I would suggest first building a wooden enclosure that you can mount the controll panel to. Then start planning out your supergun.

i don't know how new you are to soldering and whatnot, but if you've made things before (circuits or soldered together anything on a breadbroad really), superguns are a walk in the park. It's pretty fundamental stuff mostly just wiring from one point to another. The only really challenging part is building an NTSC encoder. You can buy them online which is easiest but they're $65-$100. If you make your own it will cost $30 or less. I live near Jameco so it's even cheaper for me. Here's what you need for the project:

-Jamma card connector (I recomment jammaboards.com 56-pin connectors are dirt cheap)

-wire (IDE-type cabling is the best because its already joined together so it makes a great harness)

-D-Sub 15 male connectors (to plug in the controllers)

-pushbuttons (tactile or whatever you want, for coin inputs, player starts)

-Power (+5v @ 3+amps (more is better), -5v @ 1amp(? This isn't used in the neo boards so I don't know for sure), +12v @ 1amp (really just for the speaker amp/7805 regs). Jameco sells an amazingly cheap one that works great.

-NTSC video encoder (I'm having trouble with the AD725 so I'm using a CXA1645 at the moment and it works great. I'll be building a component converter later on but the S-Video from that chip is damn good IMO)

-Audio jacks

-Video jacks

-Headphone port (optional)

-on/off switch

-speaker (optional....you could put one in that big case though ^_^)

....and I think that covers it. I'm kinda in a rush thought so I may have left something out. Feel free to flame me :p

Thanks for the post guys, I am alittle new but I am going to do what you said, first build the wooden stand. I plan to buy a neoblitz from Jeff instead of buidling my own, the only question I have right now is I see you need fuses to regulate the voltage I mostly am seeing this with pc psu but if I get an arcade psu will I have to do the same thing?
