Below are some pics of my latest DC to Jamma Convertor that I have recently built for someone. As you can see, it has been streamlined from my previous version. (Here is a link to the post of my old version.) This new version has quicker access to all 4 VMU slots and the volume control. All cables and wires have been labeled for easy installation. The 2 wires are used for the 6th buttons/Right Triggers due to the Jamma 5-button format. I have used a Mad Catz controller (Player 1) and a standard SEGA controller (Player 2). The enclosure is made of aluminum and select areas have chrome tape applied to prevent any damage to the VMUs and the user. (The cut edges of the aluminum can still be sharp enough to cut skin even after it has been sanded down.) As always, questions and comments are welcome.

Thank you for the props. Build time on the DC to Jamma convertor is very long due to the quality requirements I have imposed on myself and the difficulty of the project. (This convertor build has over 25 hours logged into it from start to finish.) This translates into a price point that may be too high for most to accept or afford. If you are still interested in having me custom build one to your requirements, please PM with specifics and I will quote you a price. Thanks again for the complements.

You wouldn't be willing to share info on the project would you? Like how you managed to get all 4 VMU's so close to each other, etc?

Said it before.... you do damn good work and have to agree with the others that at the right price point you could take over the market. The Super and the MGCD suck. Your solution seems to be much better.

General information to make this type of converter can be found here. http://www.mameworld.net/pc2jamma/arc_dc1.html The placement of the controllers are vertical and only includes the board. The plastic controller casing has been removed to allow for the smaller form factor of this convertor and close VMU placement. Thanks again for the props.

Good shit.

If you really want to go balls out, Put on a switch to allow the CP Stick to function as either the Analog or D-Pad.

I'd wire up a male connector for a Capcom kick harness for easy swapping in a Capcom Cab.

I think you can retail them for 150.00

mostly because of the MGCD market price (100.00+) and the high quality of your design.

Yeah, a Capcom Kick harness would be awesome and would make this a dream product. Dreamcast, Dream product. I'm lame.

norton9478: The integration of a cps2/3 kick harness connector into my convertor is a good idea. This option is totally up to the customer so I am more than able to provide this interface on the convertor if requested. The defualt wiring setup is 100% Jamma so it matches the wiring implemented by the Atomiswave.

sammaz: I currently cannot meet this price point due to my cost of the neccessary components and the time involved in constructing the convertor. I hope that someday I can so thank you for your recommendation.

ResOGlas: The Dreamcast is still powered by its own power cable. The convertor will not supply power to the Dreamcast.

Meanbean, do you utilize any of the +5 or +12 regulated voltage? If not, your setup will burnout the cabinet power supply over time (since you essentially have no load on it). I suggest adding a LED/bulb/something on the jamma +5 to keep the regulation circuit happy.

Yes, the DC2Jamma converter uses both the 12v+ and 5v+. The 12v+ is used by the mono audio amp and 5v+ is used be the video synch circuit.

Ever though of doing an all in one box that has the dreamcast pcbs in it as well with just a drive bay for the disc?

That would be pretty kick ass to see.

I may consider that if I ever get the free time. Many of my personal projects are on hold in order to accomedate the increased interest in this and other services I offer. I now have 4 Dreamcasts units so I guess I could spare one to experiment with. :loco:

DC2Jamma Converter v2.1

Here is another DC2Jamma Converter built to order for a customer. It has some subtle improvements over my other v2.0. This one has a power on amber LED, volume knob, 4 rubber feet and no extruding analog joystick. As always, questions and comments are welcome.
