Nice arcade pics. I wish I could walk into a store and get Jap sticks and buttons. Those Red and Black buttons would look sweet on my HRAP2. And there cheap.

Attending a Japanese Baseball game would be fun. I hear the fans are constantly cheering and pounding on drums.

What did you end up buying? I'm almost glad i've never been to that place or I would be in huge debt.

 ...is all I can say.

Hopefully this isn't a stupid question: how on earth do you know what MVS cart you're buying when everything's in Japanese? Do you go there with the translations / screenshot and ask the store attendant which cart is which game?

I can just imagine an unhelpful sales rep saying something like "whatever we got is in the back. You go and look yourself."

Actually after some game hunting in Yahoo Japan, you'll start to recognize some names in Japanese (KOF, Metal Slug), it's not that hard, really.

Not to be a dick, but did you ever think maybe after living in Japan for a while he has some knowledge of the Japanese language?

@Akihabara, what exactly do you do there anyways? Just curious, seems as though you've been there for quite some time.

Heh heh heh, yeah I'm sure he would, but I kind of meant it in a more general way, such as "how would one know what to look for if one took a trip to Japan and went into a shop like that".

Vincewy has a point, though. I suppose a completely non-japanese speaker would print out the names and start comparing them with the labels.

Its more like we dont speak english. Everytime I go and try to buy something I talk to them thinking they have some slight clue of what im saying. Though they never do.

I've been in all the stores there but never went in this one. At the time I had no use going into that store but I'll have to go in there next year. I think Id need someone that could read japanese though, otherwise I really wouldn't know what I am buying unless I could see a picture.

For anyone who does go - use the Jigen label project at hardMVS.com and print the labels of the games you want!

I'm sure for example that we all know the kanji for SamSho, but the others are hard!

Apperently they have 2 english staff members there. So I guess it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Sucks I wont be going till next summer though :(. I know my brother wont go there if I ask him to when he goes this summer. Shame really :mad_2:

To bad they dont do online orders or phone orders or something. If i could get something together and then just have my brother pick it up that would be gold!..

Do you know if they do anything like that?

Websites:
Mak Japan (my fave pcb shop) -- and their weekly .pdf update page (just click the link above the little PDF logo to see the update).
G-Front -- and their weekly update page.
Try -- and their stocklist.

Here's a couple old threads (one and two) that touched on the topic of pcb shops in Akihabara.

That's right Chris.

You can also just tell the store employee which games you are looking for, because almost every game can be found anyway.
